I have heard people throw accusations around about the biblical type of worship. I was wondering does the bible acctually tell us how a service is supposed to go or is it left up to our imagination? Thanks and God bless.

First, from the NT and especially the writings of Paul it is clear that worship preceeded the NT scriptures.

So the best I would say is that given the Liturgy is the public worship of the Church the way we have it is the way it is suppose to be.

Of coarse, I am refering to the Western Tradition (all thought the Eastern Rite in and of itself is as legit as the Western Rite) and the rite as it is suppose to be practiced that is with out the abuses that all to often are present.

On the Road to Emmaus, you can clearly see the outline of today’s Mass:

A) The Liturgy of the Word, complete with Jesus Homily on how the Scriptures apply to Him.

B) The Liturgy of the Eucharist, where the disciples recognize Jesus in the breaking of the Bread.

You also see it in Acts in the scene where the boy in the window falls asleep and then falls out the window. This was during the Liturgy of the Word. Then after reviving the boy, they proceded to the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

In the numerous scenes that pre-figure the Eucharist (multiplication of the loaves), and the Last Supper, and in Paul’s letter’s, you often see the same procedures for the consecration of the Eucharist:
  1. Jesus takes the bread
  2. He gives thanks to God
  3. He breaks it and they distribute it.

Read the book of Revelation–everyone is gathered around the Lamb on the altar offering prayers and incense 👍 .
