Worship of Mary

Christians don’t worship Mary but venerate/honor/ ask for her intercession.

WHY?

Its a long process but bear with me if I can remember all the truths.

Does Jesus sit on the throne of David as prophisied?
If he does, in the Davidic (Jewish) tradition who was the Queen?
The Mother of the King was the Queen- the King had too many wives and concubines to pick a Queen. The Jewish(pre-Christian but headed there) people would entreat the Queen to interceed on their behalf.

Revelation is clear when it states the Saints in Heaven ask God when he will answer the prayers of the people on earth.

GOD called Mary Blessed, and He venerated her. GOD needed her to bear His Divine Son. GOD chose Mary above all women. Mary gave birth to the divine ‘Incarnate Word’.As a child, Jesus Christ obeyed the commands of His mother. Jesus Christ honors His very own mother.Jesus Christ will defend His mother as any good son would. Doesn’t that make Mary special?

I have no problem with Catholics treating Mary as Special. I cant say if every single catholic in the world venerates Mary, rather than idolises her, but Ive seen some stuff that really makes me wonder. It just seems soooooooooo over the top it ‘‘looks’’ like it’s bordering on the pagan, although I know it cant be pagan as she is the mother of God.

Honestly I am not very Marian in spirituality though Rosary, intercession of the Blessed Mother and her statue/paintings are located strategically in my house and part of my daily life. However I can say in my book I idolize her. She is my role model in discipleship, obedience and faith.

I am glad I do and do not see that I will stop doing what I’m doing now and I feel all right about it. I do not have a problem with Mary and I do not bother too much with words people use to describe my attitude towards her. If people have problem with this it is certainly their problem not mine.

I do worship Christ our Lord, but I am sometimes told I don’t.

That is a little strange…

This is a fair observation. I believe in the communion of Saints and believe the Mary played a uniquely significant role and was uniquely blessed and is derserving of our veneration. I also recognize that this is, effectively, the official Catholic doctrine (veneration, not worship). But it is certainly true that notwithstanding that official teaching, many Catholics (perhaps out of ignorance of Church doctrine or just over-exuberance) take veneration too far to the point approaching worship. Its not credible for any of us to deny that.

This doesn’t mean that marion doctrines are false -just as the fact that many pervert the gospel doesn’t mean the gospel is false.

God warned us all of idolotry - while I agree with Catholic teaching that this does not extent to prohibiting the creation of statues and other artistic representations of May and the Saints (just as God instructed the creation of artisitic representations of the Cheribum and Brass Serpant in the desert) we all need to be careful of the human tendancy to then worship these symbols.

Its a question of practice, rather than doctrine.
