I love How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace. Those two songs bring tears to my eyes.

One of my favorites are also Ave Maria and Cumbaya(if that is how you spell it). I also like a christmas song by Kenny rogers called When A Child Is Born.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

I am quite fond of Agni Parthene (pretty much in any language) and anything that comes from the monks at Valaam: youtube.com/watch?v=ZC6cYKQ4-tQ

I also like Byzantine Chant as well. youtube.com/watch?v=ICdPr4K7VAo

And this chant from the Ambrosian Liturgy: youtube.com/watch?v=PU4ycRzwqDc

Nothing brings me closer to God than hearing Him praised like this. No broadway-esque or Rock Band-style praise and worship for me. Give me what the early Church used! 👍

In Christ,
Andrew

Oh what a blessed privilege to be able to praise our God in song:thumbsup: I was raised on the old hymns, “Old Rugged Cross”, Amazing Grace," Standing on the Promises,". etc, but over the years have heard and sang some incredible praise and worship songs, most notably by Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Tim Hughes, Casting Crowns, THird Day, Michael W. Smith, and countless others. Hillsong, is an incredible ensemble of humble musicians, who inspire us to worship, hands and hearts raised in adoration of our Saviour! I believe that Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman have their collective fingers on the pulse of God! Worship should not be about what we get out of it; rather what God gets out of it:D Whether your preference is solemn, reverent, and holy music, or hand clapping, dancing in the aisles, hands raised to Heaven(2 Samuel 6:12-23), the point is we need worship.“I will rise, on eagle’s wings; before my God, fall on my knees, and rise!”👍

love is patient: That is a nice video, coupled with Mercy Me’s “I Can Only Imagine!” While I was watching the slide show, I was getting a mental picture of our pastor, and some of our deacons, baptizing new believers in Guinea, west Africa:thumbsup: And while this video is thoroughly catholic, we are reminde that the gift of salvation is not denominatinal, but is available to ALL mankind, as pope John Paul II intimated!😃

Beautiful songs…you a get a real sense of reverence.

I’ll ask again cuz i think it may have been overlooked, but what makes music worship music?

1edyson: I will attempt to answer your question:What makes music, worship music? Ignore for the time being my religious persuasion, and just think of me as a LOVER of Jesus, and avid worship music listener/singer:D On those occasions, where I have led worship, I have noriced that certain songs, tend to have the “power”, to induce people to raise their hands, bow down, even some falling on their faces, worshipping their/our God! I have heard it said, that music opens the heart for the Word! One song that I sing in worship, which never fails to move the congregation, is Chris Tomlin’s "Amazing Grace(My Chains Are Gone), from the soundtrack, “Amazing Grace”, the movie. Is there any one way to worship; I think not, just as there is no one way to pray. It is what moves you to laugh, to cry, to “Shout to the Lord”.

I’ll add a couple more: “Be Not Afraid”

and “We Are Called” by David Haas (Couldn’t find a good video of it on You Tube)

Peace,
Robert

P.S. - Also, any christian hymm played *well *on the great highland bagpipe (I’m completely ecumenical where the GHB is involved. 👍)

That sounds like Selah’ version of “Wonderful. Merciful Saviour” Saw them in concert in 2006! It was an anointed concert! They only appear in churches, from what I can gather!👍
