What is the biblical evidence of latria, hyperdulia, and dulia?

Thanks and God bless.

What are you asking for? Biblical evidence that God does not prohibit veneration of humans? The bible is shot through with examples of that.

Such as?

I am a Catholic and now being asked by a Protestant after clarifed that Catholics do not worship Mary by saying that we have those three kinds. Latria of course is the highest one.

Do an online bible search for words such as “honor” and “glory” and “praise” and you’ll see that all those words are applied to humans in the bible as well as applied to God. God even commands us to honor our father and mother.

Hi Da Xavier,

Why confuse the issue with these (to them) weird terms?

Since Protestants pray only to God, they confuse prayer with worship. They hear we pray the saints; so they think we worship the saints.

Worship is the recognition that God is the all-perfect, eternal being who made all things. We do not attribute these qualities to saints; therefore, we do not worship saints.

Protestants also think that Catholics believe that the saints can, by their own power, grand us favors. Catholics do not believe this. Catholics believe that the saints can intercede for us as friends of God.

Protestants think that, even if the saints can intercede for us, it is futile to pray to the saints, since we can obtain results by praying directly to God. To this we answer that it is easier for humans to identify with the saints, who, when on earth, went throught the same things that we go through. This identification results in a feeling of confidence, which makes our prayer more effective.

The ultimate difference is that we recognize that Mary and the Saints derive their existence and any power as a free gift from God. So they are not all-powerful as God is, and we only honour them to give honour to God by honouring his creations.
