Worst Concert Lineup You've Experienced

Saw Trace Adkins open for Martina McBride once. I was wincing through much of Mr. Adkins’ set … had forgotten (when booking my ticket) that he was the “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” guy.

I might add, the next time I saw Martina – a few years ago right here in Morgantown – it was just her, and I enjoyed the concert much more. She even came out for her encore wearing a Mountaineers football jersey, which the crowd loved.

That actually was supposed to be my birthday concert that year, in October, but football scheduling shenanigans forced it to be postponed to January.

Saw Chicago twice. The first time, they were great. The second time, they had just put out an album of jazz standards and it was awful.

Somebody mentioned Jimmy Buffett. The last couple of Buffett shows I went to weren’t great. They weren’t awful, but it was pretty clear that the concert was just a big branding event for Margaritaville merchandise.

But he lives in our neighborhood and last year, he did two free concerts in the park and they were among the best concerts I’ve ever been to.

The concert he did in the park down in Hollywood was just like the old days, back in the 70s.

I had a girlfriend who liked Garth Brooks and so I took her to see Garth Brooks and Martina McBride was opening. She was so pregnant, she looked like she was about to bust, but she still put on a great show and hit all the notes.
