I don’t remember ever hearing that one at a wedding. Funerals, confirmation, baptism – no weddings. Just as well.(If I hear “On Eagle’s Wings” at 1 more ceremony…)

Who?the Jesus and Mary Chain
I always wanted to dance to “Autobahn.”. . . Kraftwerk . . .
Early indie/shoegaze (late 80’s-early 90’s). Infamous for starting riots at their concerts. Most of their songs are a little too mean for the setting, but ‘Happy When It Rains’ isn’tWho?
My father told me that years ago he went to a wedding reception. Two of the guests were really drunk and started fighting. Pretty soon, the whole place was brawling. My father left without getting into the fight. He watched as about 15 police cars arrived, taking many of the guests to jail. They even brought a paddy wagon since there were so many arrested. So, a riot at a wedding reception is not unheard of.Early indie/shoegaze (late 80’s-early 90’s). Infamous for starting riots at their concerts. You know, the polka makes a nice soundtrack for CA forums
Another bad wedding reception song: “Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting.”My father told me that years ago he went to a wedding reception. Two of the guests were really drunk and started fighting. I would add “Return to Sender” to that list.Take a letter, Maria. These boots are made for walkin. Born Free. Just a few that I thought would not be appropriate.![]()
“I’m In Love With a Stripper” and its companion song, “I’m In Love With a Tipper”.
Not. Even. Kidding. Those are real songs.
I was at a wedding 30+ years ago where the band only knew two “fast dance” type songs: “Proud Mary” and “Jesus Christ Superstar.” As if the latter weren’t bad enough, they played both of those tunes in POLKA rhythm. Ouch. You know, the polka makes a nice soundtrack for CA forums
:dancing:
Some polkas can be quite fast, but those two songs should NEVER be performed as polkas.I was at a wedding 30+ years ago where the band only knew two “fast dance” type songs: “Proud Mary” and “Jesus Christ Superstar.” As if the latter weren’t bad enough, they played both of those tunes in POLKA rhythm. Isn’t “Shall We Dance” from the King and I considered a polka? Some polkas can be quite fast, but those two songs should NEVER be performed as polkas.![]()
You have a very good taste in music. Kraftwerk is a great band. Once my best friend gets married, I imagine him having Kraftwerk, Devo, definately Bjork, David Bowie, and alot of other weird techno stuff played. We’re starting to get stuff together to plan ours. I wanted to thank all of you for advice on what not to pick
Of course, our list is still plenty weird as it’s taking shape: Siouxsie, World/Inferno Friendship Society, James (‘Just Like Fred Astaire’ is such a sappily romantic song we can’t help but love it), Kraftwerk, David Bowie, the Jesus and Mary Chain, and so on…
Don’t forget the Metallica version of the Imperial March! You have a very good taste in music. Kraftwerk is a great band. Once my best friend gets married, I imagine him having Kraftwerk, Devo, definately Bjork, David Bowie, and alot of other weird techno stuff played.
