I will add your intention to my prayers this afternoon. I will be praying the novena to the Sacred Heart for you and another member of CAF.

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

Prayers and Intercessions

God, creator of the world, re-created it through the Redemption and renews it daily through his love. With joy we pray:
  • Lord, renew the wonders of your love.
O God, we thank you for your power, revealed in the whole of your creation;
and for your providence, revealed day by day in the world.
Through your Son, proclaimer of peace and victor on the Cross,
free us from pointless fears and from despair.
To all who love and work for justice,
give the gift of working together in openness and trust, building up the world in true peace.
Support the oppressed, give freedom to captives, console those who mourn:
let the victory of the Cross transform everything.
After your Son was dead and buried you miraculously raised him into glory:
grant that all the dead may come to share eternal life with him.

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those that trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Almighty and compassionate God, it is by your gift that your faithful are able to serve you as they ought.
Grant that we may hasten towards the joys you have promised
and not stumble or sin on the way.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen.

Thank you all for your prayers. Nothing yet, unfortunately.

Well, then, we must redouble our efforts! 🙂

Prayer to Saint Rita

O HOLY PATRONESS of those in need, St. Rita, whose pleadings before thy Divine Lord are almost irresistible, who for thy lavishness in granting favors hast been called the Advocate of the Hopeless and even of the Impossible; St. Rita, so humble, so pure, so mortified, so patient and of such compassionate love for thy Crucified Jesus that thou couldst obtain from Him whatsoever thou askest, on account of which all confidently have recourse to thee, expecting, if not alwavs relief, at least comfort; be propitious to our petition, showing thy power with God on behalf of thy suppliant; be lavish to us, as thou hast been in so many wonderful cases, for the greater glory of God, for the spreading of thine own devotion, and for the consolation of those who trust in thee. We promise, if our petition is granted, to glorify, thee by making known thy favor, to bless and sing thy praises forever. Relying then upon thy merits and power before the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we pray thee grant that (here mention your request).

Obtain for us our request

By the singular merits of thy childhood,

Bv thy perfect union with the Divine Will,

By thy heroic sufferings during thy married life,

By the consolation thou didst experience at the conversion of thy husband,

By the sacrifice of thy children rather than see them grievously offend God,

By thy miraculous entrance into the convent,

By thy severe penances and thrice daily bloody scourgings,

By the suffering caused by the wound thou didst receive from the thorn of thy Crucified Saviour,

By the divine love which consumed thy heart,

By that remarkable devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, on which alone thou didst exist for four years,

By the happiness with which thou didst part from thy trials to join thy Divine Spouse,

By the perfect example thou gavest to people of every state of life.

Pray for us, O holy St. Rita, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray

O GOD, Who in Thine infinite tenderness hast vouchsafed to regard the prayer of Thy servant, Blessed Rita, and dost grant to her supplication that which is impossible to human foresight, skill and efforts, in reward of her compassionate love and firm reliance on Thy promise, have pity on our adversity and succor us in our calamities, that the unbeliever may know Thou art the recompense of the humble, the defense of the helpless, and the strength of those who trust in Thee, through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

Employment Prayer

Mary our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, you once experienced hardships and difficulties in getting the necessities of life. Look kindly on me now as I face the same difficulties. Help me to find suitable employment. Through my work I want to meet my physical needs and to grow spiritually. Help me find a job that lets me provide for myself and for those who depend on me. I trust you, Immaculate Mother, to hear my prayers and intercede for me. I will share your goodness with others that they may know your power with God and give him honor and glory. Amen.

Thanks, justlooking, morwenna and mom; praying for you too! Last night for the first time I panicked; heart racing, agitated, fearful. Wanted to wait for the last minute so it’d be special and a really good panic. Y’know, why do anything by halves?

Once years ago - I think I was about 20 at the time and between jobs, I made up a poem for my Christmas cards because I had no money for presents that year. I’m brushing it off and updating 46 years later to use again…I’m going to share it with you so that everyone else who’s facing a scary, bleak Christmas can make use of it as needed. Gotta have a little humor…

They say that it’s the thought that counts
As festive songs we sing,
But wouldn’t it be nice to get
A yacht, a fur, a ring?
This little card will have to do
Under your Christmas tree
'Cause the banks are going belly-up
And frankly, so are we.
So say a little prayer for me
That soon my ship comes in,
Or next year you might have to see
This little rhyme again.

Hey FF,

That poem was quite cute! Did your panic attack last long? Do you have medication you can take for it? Praying for you. How are you TODAY?

Blessings upon Blessings,
Judi

Mom, I don’t have a panic disorder. I’ve managed to remain pretty calm during 10 months of unemployment, but am at the critical point financially now. If something doesn’t give in the next few weeks I’m in serious poop.

Did you clear out your PM box, BTW? I tried to respond to your PM the other night and got it back.

FF,

Obviously, I’m not playing with a full deck - YES - I did clear my in-box. What a goofball. I’ll keep praying for employment for you. Gosh, it’s rough all over and getting worse! Hang in there!

Blessings,
Judi

Hey, Mom - I think I must be playing with the other half of your “not-full” deck - I added 10 years to my age when I was typing the post with the poem in it…
It was 36 years ago, not 46; I’m still a spring chicken… a little droopy around the gullet (whatever THAT is) but still springy…:rotfl:

st. Gabriel, thank you for your prayers; I’m scared to death but haven’t lost hope yet, probably due in large part the wonderful Prayer Warriors here.

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

Psalm 137 (138)

I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart, for you have heard the words of my mouth.
In the presence of the angels I will make music to you, worship before your holy temple.
I will praise your name because of your mercy and faithfulness: high above all other names is the greatness of your word.

Each day that I call on you, Lord, listen to me, strengthen my spirit.
All the kings of the earth will proclaim your glory, Lord, when they hear your word.
They will sing of the paths of the Lord, so great is his glory.
For the Lord is on high but he cares for the humble; and he knows the proud from afar.

If I walk in the midst of troubles, you will give me life. If my enemies rise up against me, your right hand will keep me safe.
The Lord does all that I need. Lord, your kindness lasts for ever: do not forsake the work of your hands.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

Glad to see that despite it all, you haven’t lost your sense of humor, FF :D:thumbsup:

Continuing in prayer for you!

Oh, thank you, Morwenna. Goofy is good.

Phoenix, thankyou for that reading. My other “vocation” is Christian music so the allusion to making music for God “struck a chord” literally.

Continuing to pray that you find employment.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Send some of your angels to open up the doors of employment for justlookingny (a referral, an opportunity and an interview).

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

LOL Fickle, this is just the most adorable thing!!! I am so proud that you wrote this, but so wish you never had to…and very much pray your ship comes in before the holidays so that you do not have to send this card again this year. But it is just so adorable!!!

You remain in my heart and in my prayers daily. I admire you for your strength, you are an inspiration to me right now. Please know this. I wish I was strong like you…to keep up your hopes, spirits and sense of humor…how beautiful dear friend!

FF,

Still praying for employment for you and for all your needs! God bless you!
