My name is Austin .but now Im gonna be baptized this august ,and I thought Auguestien would be a good christian name for me . And i found that Austin is short for Auguestien ,so just wondering that would it be ok got myself with the christian name Auguestien while my name is Austin . . . . .:o:o:o:o:o:o well are there some rules???BTW

well if you feel an attachment to St. Augustine then be baptised with that name and feel free to shorten it to Austin in daily use. It is good to have a full name to fall back on and Augustine is a great name so if you do it that way you have the option of Austin or Augustine. Augustine also sounds good when proclaimed for things like Baptism. have you chosen your confirmation name yet?

When I was baptised, my grandmother (who was raising me) had forgot to pick a name for me. The deacon said “Oh, he already has the best name of all!” (Michael), so that’s what they went with. I only recently found out about this after returning to the church asking my grandmother about it.

So I would say no, there’s no problem with both names being the same.
