Would it matter in the END?

Why would it matter?
  1. The Catholic Church was endowed with seven sacraments which are means of grace and helps along the difficult journey we face in this life. If ALL Christians were Catholics, then ALL Christians could avail themselves of those sacraments and that grace. Instead, some Christians have been taught that there are only two sacraments and the opportunities for the reception of grace through the others are missed by those who are not Catholic. As a result of these missed opportunities, some souls may not be saved.
Randy, just wanted to clarify that although the CC does not accept Lutheran’s Eucharist as valid, we actually perform those practices which you identify as sacraments - but we use another term, “rites.”

Do you suppose that those united in Holy Matrimony in a Lutheran church are not blessed with Grace in their vows before God?

Lutherans truly are not hung up on the numbering - this is not the dogmatic hill we would choose to die on when considering unity. Our Synod Director of Worship, Pr. William Weedon, pointed this out on another forum:

This is the ORDER of hymns in our previous hymnal:

Holy Baptism, 223–228
Confession, 229–235
Lord’s Supper, 236–250
Marriage, 251–253
Confirmation, 254–257
Ordination, Installation, 258–263
Death and Burial, 264–269

Hmmm, looks mighty familiar…

Bless you Randy, and thanks for your always thoughtful discussion.

-Jan
