If the 1911 was good enough for Jesus, it’s good enough for me.
His trade was carpentry, not gunsmithing.yes. He had an axe and a knife because they were tools of his trade.
Well, he was pretty handy with an improvised whip of his own making (John 2:13-16).Would Jesus Own a Gun?
Then He carried a hammer, today he would probably use a nail gun. What would Jesus recommend for hunting wild animals today? Was all hunting banned by Jesus? His trade was carpentry
:yup:He wouldn’t because he didn’t need to. No one could harm him physically until the time appointed by God. He walked through the angry crowd without being harmed.
Don’t think Jesus did…but I sure do…and then some!Did Jesus own a sword, a bow and arrow or a sling shot?
The question is would Jesus own a gun? Not “what did he say about gun ownership in general?” Lots of posters seem to be getting this confused. Then He carried a hammer, today he would probably use a nail gun. What would Jesus recommend for hunting wild animals today? Was all hunting banned by Jesus?
I kinda hear you, but He-God-didn’t need to.The question is would Jesus own a gun? Not “what did he say about gun ownership in general?” Lots of posters seem to be getting this confused.
Had a hammer… HAD… Not any more - he was no longer a carpenter but a preacher, and a poor one at that.
Jesus fished for food. So nets were OK. But there is no evidence that Jesus hunted or banned hunting is there?![]()
He was a carpenter and as a tradesman he didn’t speak out against the trades which of course He knew all about. He didn’t need to be a carpenter either.he didn’t need to

Simon Peter then, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s slave, and cut off his right ear; and the slave’s name was Malchus. 11So Jesus said to Peter, “Put the sword into the sheath; the cup which the Father has given Me, shall I not drink it?” 12So the Roman cohort and the commander and the officers of the Jews, arrested Jesus and bound Him,
But those who are not God do need to some degree as history indicates. We shouldn’t stereo-type God as anti or pro gun. In fact why wouldn’t we stereo type Him as a sportsman being He fished and a tradesman being He was a carpenter? He didn’t take a political stance on the issue of Sword control. His response to violence is clear, but there is no political stance on the trades mentioned. He never told Peter to abandon the sword. He told him to put in back in the sheath. He never said there should be no more swords made either. Living by the sword and dying by the sword are completely different than a sword existing to begin with to provide dinnerhe didn’t need to
No. I don’t agree. Gorgias is correct.Would you agree with this?
It’s not necessarily the call to pacifism (or the denial of self-defense) that some would have it be.
Just curious![]()
He told his followers if they didn’t have a sword to go and buy one. A sword would have been the equivalent weapon of the time.Do you think he would encourage others to own a gun?
Then the Apostles point out that they have two swords and Jesus says that it is enough. He told his followers if they didn’t have a sword to go and buy one. A sword would have been the equivalent weapon of the time.
Luke 22:36 36 Then said he unto them," But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one".
So I would say yes.
The question- Would Jesus need a gun? answers your question. Asking if Christ would need a gun in order to justify some sort of anti-gun or non-self defense stance is like asking if Christ would need to wear protective gear when treating people with ebola in order to justify some sort of anti-medicine or anti-immunization stance. If Jesus’s public ministry was today instead of 33AD, do you think he would own a gun? Do you think he would encourage others to own a gun?
So, even with direct evidence that Jesus told his followers to sell their cloak and buy a sword you still insist on ignoring that and maintaining a completely incongruent anti-gun agenda. That, my friend, is the name of a river in Egypt.Ignatius;12633767:
