Would Jesus Own a Gun?

I haven’t read all the posts, but I recently saw a special about St. Peter in which an ancient weapons expert said that men generally carried small weapons at that time for defense as well as for hunting. This is why Jesus asked how many swords they had with them. No doubt most had laid theirs aside for the Passover dinner. In any case, Peter would have used a short sword, meant for personal defense, when he cut off the ear of one of the men who came to arrest Jesus. The weapons expert said that by doing so Peter hadn’t intended to kill the man but to shame him and his master who had sent him. I love getting such insights into the times/culture because it helps us understand the truth of things rather than relying on empty speculations based on our own prejudices/cultural norms.

I stuck to the topic, argued my point from the scriptures and didn’t accuse or insult you. I would be willing to continue what I hope would be a conversation between adults but only if you can control yourself and do the same.

The truth is that you really know nothing about me.

I have to say I’m pretty shocked by this thread? Are some people so obsessed with firearms that they would seek to put a figurative gun in the hands of Christ. Dear me
 
Its Gods universal law which man seems to disagree with. Mans fallen nature has always kept arms available. God isn’t the issue, man is the problem, he didn’t make it far outside of the tree of life before the issues manifested themselves. Very next chapter

Genesis 4 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

Then came the completely 2015 response…

Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” “I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

Revelations said…
If anyone is destined for captivity, to captivity he goes; if anyone kills with the sword, with the sword he must be killed. Here is the perseverance and the faith of the saints.

Statistical probability with history and the Bible seem to indicate the on-going sword issue is here to stay till the second coming.

Rather, some are so obsessed with the banishment of firearms, that they bring Jesus (The Prince of Peace) into the argument to try to shame legal gun owners.
