When I went to a Catholic elementary school I got an agenda and in the first few pages there’s basic descriptions of world religions like Judaism,Christianity,Islam,Hinduism,Buddhism and Sikhism. In the side is a box with the words “Name of Ultimate Reality”.This term still influences the way I think of God to this day.Under Judaism it says Yahweh, under Christianity:God,under Islam:Allah, under Hinduism:Brahman, under Sikhism:Waheguru.Interestingly the box for “Name of Ultimate Reality” under Buddhism was blank.Does any one have any opinions on what ultimate reality means because I have one but I dont think it like fully thought out.Feel free to write stuff about the term here.

Then the Bodhisattva Manjushri said to Vimalakirti, “We have all given our teachings, noble sir. Now, may you elucidate the teaching of the the entrance into the principle of nonduality.”

Thereupon Vimalakirti kept his silence, saying nothing at all.

The Bodhisattva Manjushri applauded Vimalakirti: “Excellent! Excellent, noble sir! This is indeed the entrance into the nonduality of the Bodhisattvas.”

– Vimalakirtinirdesa sutra, Chapter 9
Whatever can be described in words cannot be the ultimate reality because mere words are incapable of describing such a thing. All descriptions of nirvana are false.

Nonsumdignus. What is man that thou art mindful of him? remember this is opinion… not fides et ratio. ? One cannot separate reality from ones perception of it…for the one. Two persons percieve one reality differently. There is only one truth(Jesus).

The silence of the Buddhist demonstrates that the “ultimate reality” is beyond our comprehension. God’s ways are above our ways, as Scripture tells us. But He also says: “Then shall ye call upon me, and ;ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all ;your heart.” (Jer.29:12-13).

God, as we know by reason, is the Ultimate Reality, or Unconditioned Reality, since all other realities are dependent on another. Thus they can be called conditioned realities. St. Thomas Aquinas uses the term “FInal Cause”.
