I feel like prayer is a false hope like someone begging the king for mercy and then getting thrown to the lions anyway.
Well said… some people find comfort in prayer, hope… some feel its a chore we are required to do… depends on why you pray.I guess you need to think about why you pray. Is it because you seek a connection with God, or because you want stuff?
Funny you should say that, my wife has ignored me since 25th November 2019.Would your life be different if you ignored your spouse?
I find the book of Job as pretty awful. It’s a long book and also God allowed Satan to practically destroy him to prove Satan wrong. Is that what God is doing with me?Ah, I’m so sorry. God is not ignoring you. Do you read the book of Job, or the Psalms? This world is a place of suffering, but I find contemplating wisdom literature to be good for my soul.
It is part of your destiny to pray.I feel like prayer is a false hope like someone begging the king for mercy and then getting thrown to the lions anyway.
Prayer as God’s gift
2559 "Prayer is the raising of one’s mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God."2 But when we pray, do we speak from the height of our pride and will, or “out of the depths” of a humble and contrite heart?3 He who humbles himself will be exalted;4 humility is the foundation of prayer, Only when we humbly acknowledge that "we do not know how to pray as we ought,"5 are we ready to receive freely the gift of prayer. "Man is a beggar before God."6
600 To God, all moments of time are present in their immediacy. When therefore he establishes his eternal plan of “predestination”, he includes in it each person’s free response to his grace: "In this city, in fact, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place."395 For the sake of accomplishing his plan of salvation, God permitted the acts that flowed from their blindness.396
I have had times in the past where prayer felt dry and tedious, but never like I am begging and being thrown to the lions. Perhaps it is because I am intentional about being sure I reflect on what has gone well and offer prayers of thanksgiving for those things. In this way, I try to remain mindful of all the ways I feel the mercy of God in my life.I feel like prayer is a false hope like someone begging the king for mercy and then getting thrown to the lions anyway.
