Lately ive been trying to find a soundtrack (1 song in particular) of an old video game I used to play many years ago. The only problem is that they dont produce the CD anymore and it hasnt been transferred to an MP3 store like itunes. the only way you would be able to buy it is from someone who wasnt the publisher, at a site like ebay. Im concerned whether it would be a sin or not to download off of a site that has the songs there for the purpose of downloading (site is not the publisher) The game and soundtrack came out over 10 years ago and as you can imagine it would be hard to get a physical copy of it, and as far as ive seen there is no way to purchase a download off of the internet. Would it be ok to download this one song from the website without paying?

Btw: I am a scrupulous individual

I say write the company that made the game and see what they say… my guess is that since they cannot make any money from you since there is no way for you to purchase this song in any way… I imagine they won’t care.

Then you need to address this question to a priest and not a bunch of self-styled moral theologians (I include myself in this comment) on the internet. Scrupulosity needs to be handled with care by an experienced priest.
