Soda does break the fast. The only things that you are allowed to consume are water and medicine.hi. last sunday before mass, i didnt eat anything, but i was really thirsty and i had a soda. is this breaking the fast? does it go for both solids and liquids? thanks.
But don’t worry about its being a sin - you didn’t know.hi. last sunday before mass, i didnt eat anything, but i was really thirsty and i had a soda. is this breaking the fast? does it go for both solids and liquids? thanks.
If I was sick enough that I could not talk above a whisper, was coughing, and had a sore throat, I would stay home. It would not be a sin to miss Mass when that ill, and probably an act of charity to avoid passing on the germs to other people in the congregation.OK, here’s another variation of that question. I’ve been sick since Thanksgiving, and have been choking on a sore, dry throat.
My DH wanted to give me a cough drop when we first got to the church.
Me: I’m not going to Hell over a piece of candy!
Him: It’s not candy–it’s medicine!
I refused the cough drop, but could neither talk above a whisper nor sing.
What’s the verdict? Does a cough drop break the fast?
I was sick since Thanksgiving so I’m pretty sure I was no longer contagious, as this was The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conseption. I had already missed one Mass because of it.If I was sick enough that I could not talk above a whisper, was coughing, and had a sore throat, I would stay home. Don’t be scrupulous. If you’re taking a cough drop to alleviate a medical problem then it’s medicine and it’s OK.I really, really need to know about the cough drop thing—the dry throat and the choking stuff is lingering. Someone help!!!![]()
