Hello,
I’ll make a long story short. I’m a computer developer and I make very simple video games. Their is something called “source code” that we use to make our games/programs. I saw that a small group of developers have sort of “emulated” another game in a sense(it wasn’t theirs). Their are 3 main parts to the game. The first part they have programmed all on their own. This part i’m not worried about.
The second + third part however is the part I am worried about. When the real owners of the game made it they you know uploaded it do their website. People could then play the game. The developers I told you about before took these files, decompiled them (pretty much taking the files that the computers reads and making it so they could edit it. They edited it down, created the other part that was needed to run with it (the first part). Thats the part where i’m worried I think it’s just as bad as right clicking on the this website, hitting view source and taking the source code from it. (why is common and accepted)
Now the third part of the game were the models and pictures. They took them out of the game and put them in another format.
The only reason I want this so bad is because I can learn so much from it. I have no intentions of selling or even lending it to someone else. Sorry if my explanation sounded extremely confusing. I’m just confused if it would be stealing because the game is 12 years old and they did edit the files that were legally put out on the internet.
Thanks
