Would you confront a teen who's texting during Mass?

It is one thing to use a device for checking a reading before Mass or using an app during adoration for prayers as an example. On the other hand, use of a mobile phone should be not done in the main worship space once Mass starts. If your job requires on call or you are a caregiver etc, then the phone needs to be silent but nearby so you can step out discreetly if needed.

The way you handled it was good. Not all young people would respond the way the teen responded to you. I would have still have made a quick mention to his parent(s) too so they know to either make sure the phone stays in the pocket on silent during Mass or is with a parent during that time to avoid temptation.

I’m sorry everyone doesn’t agree with you. That doesn’t mean I’m calling you names, nor does it give you the right to put nasty words into my mouth.
Well, with 32,000 posts I think PR knows the drill, LOL
😉

You’re right. The words were very carefully written. I had no intention of being mean and was upset that someone should imply I had spoken so meanly.

I am very sorry if I have upset anyone. It was not my intention. I humbly ask pardon for the bad example I have given and earnestly beg the prayers of my brethren.
