I would like to point out that the last sentence of that post is
And so I will look for either methodological flaws or out of date data.
OkCupid survey data
Median Reported Sex Partners
â˘straight men: 6
â˘gay men: 6
â˘straight women: 6
â˘gay women: 6
â˘45% of gay people have had 5 or fewer partners (vs. 44% for straights)
â˘98% of gay people have had 20 or fewer partners (vs. 99% for straights)
Since 2% of gay people have had 23% of the total reported gay sex I guess it really is a small minority making the rest look bad.
This study is from the early 1970s so it is before things that the AIDS epidemic was known and before gays who are more normal were willing to come out. This also appears to have been the only study studying homosexual life partner rates per se.
I however find other data complete with pretty graph.

As you can see both rates are close.
Median Reported Sex Partners
⢠straight men: 6
⢠gay men: 6
⢠straight women: 6
⢠gay women: 6
Now
⢠45% of gay people have had 5 or fewer partners (vs. 44% for straights)
⢠98% of gay people have had 20 or fewer partners (vs. 99% for straights)
Thatâs a start.
IIRC there were people who actually had opposed the inclusion of homosexuality from the beginning because there wasnât sufficient evidence for it being a mental illness
