Testing is not for the benefit of G-d but for that of humans. We grow and learn by means of being tested, not only by G-d but by other people.To assume that an omniscient being would need to resort to “testing” is ridiculous.
It is only one Jewish interpretation of the Abraham story, and not necessarily the one held by the majority of scholars.
