We ARE in a Crusade.

No, I do not mean the Global War on Terror…

I mean a true Crusade, for our Faith, for our Souls, for our Future.

Someone here already said it…we are in a Crusade against this Culture of Death. The Frontlines run through every living room, school and church in our nation and the world.

We must rise up and throw off the death-worshipers, the God-deniers…we must stand for Truth, in Love to uphold the sanctity of life.

We are in a crusade against the culture of death, moral relativism, and the forces that seek to destroy the Catholic Church.

More marches might constitute a crusade, but imagine if 60 million catholics had the courage to actually use righteous force. So many innocents could be saved if we just had the courage of our convictions, if we would just be willing to take that next step and end this holocaust by eliminating the source. 1 heathen abortionist versus 1000 babies? I say hang him high:thumbsup:
At a visceral level…

But no…as I said in another thread, we need to give people an opportunity to correct their lives rather than killing them unrepentant.

How do you know if God wills something?

James 4:15-16 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil.

Good question!
Most beloved brethren: Urged by necessity, I, Urban, by the permission of God chief bishop and prelate over the whole world, have come into these parts as an ambassador with a divine admonition to you, the servants of God… For, as the most of you have heard, the Turks and Arabs have attacked them and have conquered the territory of Romania [the Greek empire] as far west as the shore of the Mediterranean and the Hellespont, which is called the Arm of St. George. They have occupied more and more of the lands of those Christians, and have overcome them in seven battles. They have killed and captured many, and have destroyed the churches and devastated the empire. If you permit them to continue thus for awhile with impurity, the faithful of God will be much more widely attacked by them. On this account I, or rather the Lord, beseech you as Christ’s heralds to publish this everywhere and to persuade all people of whatever rank, foot-soldiers and knights, poor and rich, to carry aid promptly to those Christians and to destroy that vile race from the lands of our friends. I say this to those who are present, it meant also for those who are absent. Moreover, Christ commands it.
That’s how! If the Pope calls for it, you as a Catholic must obey to the best of your ability!

I live to be released on a crusade. GOD’s will be done. Our beloved Church and Christianity in general are constantly being besieged by detractors, heretics and demons of Satan. With this being said, it is paramount that we start our crusade on the vile monsters within our own clergy that have preyed on our youth.

The double standard used to judge Christians specifically in this day and age is one of the first warning signs of the impending battle for our very souls. As we struggle to draw and welcome new members into the Church, we also endeavor to persevere in fending off the constant attacks on our beliefs and the very core of our faith by those legions who desire nothing more than to see the Church destroyed.

Who truly has the intestinal fortitude to battle for your faith? The time will come when you will be called. Are you ready? God willing.

Well according to James, the very next line, which you ommited says (James 4:17) - “So then, if you know the good you ought to do and don’t do it, you sin.”

The Crusades were good, therefore, they were of God’s will.

I really do not understand how you are applying that verse to this discussion. In fact, it genuinely doesn’t make any sense what so ever.

To which part of my post is this addressed?

My point was in response to a poster who seems to be suggesting that any kind of action in the middle east is bad because our actions disrupt the region.

I think that the position of complete isolationism or pacifism is unreasonable. To stay away from the middle east for fear that our actions may have negative results is ridiculous because it is also a rejection of actions that could have positive results.

Moreover we also have obligation to the Middle East and it’s Christian minority which predates Islam by several centuries. I should like to think that if I were an Apostolic Christian in the Middle East that I could turn to my brothers for help - and Christians of the Middle East certainly need help.
Oh yes I agree. 🙂

Pacifists really do not have a very firm grasp on reality so they cannot be swayed by reason, I just ignored him and I suggest you do the same. Really, you’ll never convince a pacifist otherwise.

My parents went to RCIA with a Priest who said that if a murderous rapist were to break into your house, you should just accept the rape and murder of your children because “Jesus never killed anyone or met anyone with violence”.

I have no time for them.
Exactly thats even going against the Catechism.

“Someone who defends his life is not guilty of murder even if he is forced to deal his aggressor a lethal blow.” (CCC 2264)

I see nothing wrong with someone who fights to protect others from harm.

Interesting question.

Now I have one.

How many of you saying yes have actually been in combat–on-the ground, face-to-face, burrowing–in-the mud, combat? How many have actually heard shots fired in anger–at you?

And why should ye not fight in the cause of God and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)?- Men, women, and children, whose cry is: “Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from thee one who will protect; and raise for us from thee one who will help!”

This is what the Qur’an says, Chapter 4, verse 75.

That too is the Catholic position - yet funny enough, it was Islamic oppression and invasion which sparked the Crusades.

If the Pope had an appropriate plan for battle, and presented it to my nation’s commander in chief and he was satisfied it was a executable plan, I’d certainly support the effort and enlist in the US Army if I were a whole lot younger than 51.

It just isn’t a role of the papacy to organize, fund and equip an army. I don’t see how any pope could pull it off in 2008, and fight successfully without the modern military arms and technology that the enemy has. Any concievable crusade would have to involve the armies of modern nations who do have access to the technology in order to be a success in battle.

Never. My point is that if we need to fight we should. I have great respect for our troops who are real American heroes.

Perhaps a non-violent crusade? It may not necissarily mean taking up arms as much as doing something for what is right.

Imagine how much of a message could be made if for one day across the nation (maybe other nations, too!) ALL abortion mills were effectively shut down by civil disobedience? It wouldn’t even have to be just a Catholic initiative; all pro-lifers could be begged and urged to participate if they truly believe.

It couldn’t be ignored, and would need to be lead by many organized groups. It would also be nice if there were ‘apologists for life’ at the forefront, disarming and giving refutations to all arguments, so that the mesage couldn’t be ignored, also.

Just an idea… As to other issues, perhaps another tactic may be used.
