I hear so much back and fort about this argument and just curious to see if people would actually leave for another church or stay if/when Rome mandates communion on the toungue kneeling. Please give response for your answer.

If Rome dictates we pray standing on one foot and balancing a frisbee, that is how I will pray. If Rome dictates Mass is to be celebrated by priests dressed as clowns, that is the Mass I will attend. that is not going to happen because Rome is concerned at all times and places with worship as Christ himself has dictated in matter and form, and in the details he left to her decision, she is concerned with reverence and propriety. Obedience is the root of all virtue and all spiritual health, so I will obey.

anyone who answers this question yes is on the wrong forum and needs to hop on over to non-Catholic religions

every moment wasted on this discussion delights the Enemy because it is a moment directed away from Christ and toward self.

I would have no issues with that way as that is how its done at EF Masses. I would like more churches have kneelers too then something portable or permanent for a Communion rail for Communion too if it was placed into effect at OF Masses too.

I wouldnt consider it wasted time. It is such a hot topic that people get up in arms about about that I am curious to see what people would do? I am hoping nobody would leave.

This seems silly. For many of us kneeling is both painful and difficult. Probably few would leave, but more likely many, especially the older and infirm , would receive much less frequently like in the "good old days " before the entire congregation lined up like they do now. (On a side note, try to spell tongue correctly.)

Implicitly criticizing the OP and anyone who discusses this topic is a little harsh; I don’t think the topic is any more directed away from Christ and toward self than most of the other threads on this forum. Perhaps those threads delight the Enemy as well…

I would not leave the Church because of any change in practice.

I would leave the Church because of a change in dogma, but because the Church cannot change dogma, I will never be leaving the Church!

I think we are safe to assume that individual physical limitations would be taken into account(such as “bad knees, etc.”) and any rule would allow for such different needs.

we managed for centuries, as do the elderly and infirm in other countries where there are no kneelers, and now, as always, those who can’t won’t have to kneel. Do you really think the ushers are going to use cattle prods to get us down out of our wheelchairs? complete non-issue (coming from an old lady without knee joints and a disintegrated hip joint).

I don’t doubt it,
any thread on the liturgy which begins with the topic of personal preference will have that effect.

What a ridiculous question! Who would leave the church for such a silly reason. Communion on the tongue while kneeling is the NORMAL way of receiving.

How about a rephrase of your question, Eric?

Would you or anyone leave the Church “if/when Rome mandates communion in the hand, standing?” I would guess there will be a lot more yesses to this than with your OP.

No I wouldn’t leave. I would accept it as part of showing reverence.

I would hope that there would be no yesses, else those people understand the Catholic Church as well as those that would leave if Rome mandated Communion on the tongue.

that is the problem I have we line up for everything now days. Reception of the Holy Eucharist is not the same as lining up for a Big mac at McDonald’s. That is the only problem I do not care if you Knell or stand receive on the tongue or in the hand. I do care that It is done in an fast food manner.

if we do just for a sec take a look at the way the Eucharist was done you went up and knelt down and waited for the Priest to come to you with the Body of Christ. It gave a moment for you to reflect on what you were doing and then you had to get. This also gave those waiting a moment to reflect as well.

We can go back to this way of doing it now with no problems still give the option of standing of kneeling CITH Or COTT, But eliminate the Need for All but maybe one EMHC for the Cup.

"Then said Jesus unto the twelve, “Will ye also go away?” Then Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou has the words of eternal life.”
Gospel of Saint John, Chapter 6.

What a particularly stupid poll.

Perhaps the OP should stop and think what that says about them .
