Would you like to see a PROPER Douay-Rheims edition, pre-Challoner revisions?

Several posts on this thread claim how the Challoner and/or Haydock versions are “not illicit” and seem to justify those versions. My advice is that everyone who claims to be a true Catholic must know the truth about these versions because they are NOT even close to the same as the original Douay-Rheims that was translated from the Latin Vulgate. Please take time to read this article or do your own research to better understand how they were tainted - realdouayrheims.com/.

Here is what Cardinal Wiseman said about it, “To call it any longer the Douay or Rheimish version is an abuse of terms. It has been altered and modified until scarce a verse remains as it was originally printed.”

Do your research and, as True Catholics, understand how the revisions of the Bible have contributed to the modern chaos in the Church.

So? People still read internet threads especially when they are researching the topic of the history of the Douay-Rheims Bible as I was when I found this thread. The point is that the thread did not contain a lot of references with the truthful information.

This is not personal. It is against forum rules to resurrect old threads. The moderators have asked this and will close the thread. There are rules and stickies containing information about what is and is not permitted on the forums.

If one wishes to discuss a topic that is old, we are asked to start a new thread. The moderators here do enforce the rules. I am only telling you this so you can properly use the forums without getting banned or suspended or a note from the mods, not to criticize you.

Oh, thanks for the information. I did briefly look over the rules but must have missed the part about not being able to comment on old threads. I’m not sure why they would make such a rule, but good to know.

I really appreciate you telling me but I probably won’t last long anyhow because I don’t believe in forums that have stringent rules and go against our First Amendment rights…but we’ll see how things go.
