Seriously what is with all these cookie cutter prayers? A person could write code for a bot that would churn them out and they wouldn’t even have to spend time thinking on these things. Perhaps some of them were.I really believe we’ve begun to misunderstand and misuse the purpose and practice of prayer. Most of these prayers were probably taken from a ready made file and pasted in the post. How does that translate into a heart felt plea on behalf of those in need? Because it took effort on the prayers part to transfer some files from the computer to the post? Ridiculous. Why don’t more people post an original heart felt prayer from them to the Atheist? It might take more effort but I’m sure the prayer would be more alive and active with Gods spirit.

YES! Thank you so much. I see a little of who you must be in your post. This is exactly what I’m saying. Its not generic. Prayers shouldn’t be printed off like so many lifeless clones. Where ever did we get the idea that if we repeat over and over and over again the same prayer that God would be moved any more than the first time? Sincerity is bred from originality. Repeating a plagiarized prayer is simply unoriginal laziness. There is no magic in prayer as if it were some witches incantation. Are we to be witches dancing around the caldron chanting the magic words that will bring forth results? The power in prayer comes from the individuals sincere soul. Mouthing someone else’s sincerity adds nothing to your own. Copying a premade prayer as a ready made salve to apply to the worlds woes hardly demonstrates a heartfelt plea. It demonstrates a mindless repetition of words…akin to Mathew 6:7 in my opinion.
That said, God bless all posters on here. I cannot judge your methods or reasoning, but neither can I ignore my own convictions.

I understand where you are coming from. I usually simply say ‘praying’ , then include them in my daily rosary - a repetitive prayer - but I think of them when I do so. Some people feel most comfortable with words they are familiar with - their prayers are no less worthy than someone who generates unique ones every time. Hey, look at the bright side, prayers haven’t been reduced to numbers! " a #23 for your problems…"
