Would you prefer a more religious society if it meant a plurality of religions?

Plenty of people believe they can morally use contraception or masturbate. The claim that one cannot is a religious claim.

Cool. Minecraft is past my time and I officially invoke the Ninja Turtles.

It is also sex with someone you love.

Show that is wrong without invoking religious claims

You’re welcome to that opinion, for sure. And that’s the beauty of the way I’d want it. You’re welcome to the opinion. It just doesn’t get to infringe on people who disagree.

I hope you are joking. Hating yourself is no way to go through life.

Well by the time I’m able to run, Muslims will be the largest religious group in America (if you don’t lump all Protestants together). So yeah. Make America Catholic Again.

There’s not necessarily anything wrong with secular or money-driven qualities of life.

We have had different religions for all of history.

Would you be willing to prefer it if the developed West were a place in which religions, not only Christianity, penetrated to the very heart of life and society for everyone? A safer, humbler, more spiritual land made so by Christianity, Buddhism, Islam…and reversing our secular, money driven, violence driven way of life.
I don’t know if that would be a good idea necessarily.
Canabalism is a religious belief that eating people will give one the power of the person they ate. I wouldn’t want that religious group empowered.

My point here is simply that all religions are NOT the same. Besides that, I think a world where all religions are the same would make people become atheists.

One can make an argument that morality, through the centuries, ultimately goes back to religion. And that the morality we have depends upon Christianity at some point, even if it’s perfectly reasonable to be moral and secular at the same time now.

I don’t really want to argue against that in this thread even though I believe it’s wrong on a few levels. I’d just say that even if what you say is true, fine. Religion did the morals-creating and it’s perfectly reasonable for us to be moral (as you said) without having religion push into the public space anymore.

I mean, there are things that you consider immoral that I do not. And you’re more than welcome to judge me for those things. And are more than welcome to not partake in those things. And I’m sure vice-versa.

The USA is already pretty spiritual as lots of people ascribe pretty strongly to one religion or another.

I don’t think getting deeply involved with a religion makes society safer for all. More likely people will get zealous and start fighting over religion or lack thereof.

I think it is a great blessing when we can pray together with people from other faiths.
