Many Christian schools allow it, and numerous U.S. public school also.
My grade school did this all the time. All of the parents had to sign permission slips. My mom was among the only ones who didn’t sign the slip at first, but she was pressured into signing when my brother stopped doing his homework. My brother said that if he didn’t tell them that it hurt or act like he was hurting, they would swat him again. Many Christian schools allow it, and numerous U.S. public school also.
Hmmm some good points there. I personally am convinced 100% AGAINST the idea, since there are multitude of other ways to punish/teach/rehabilitate children than to inflict biological pain, such as getting the child to a therapist (if he/she has emotional issues related to not being able to cope with work or with other people), or if a child is obstinately misbehaving, then you could get him to the principal’s office or have a teacher talk with him/her. Heck, even one extra homework in addition as punishment is much better than inflicting pain in my opinion. So I’m open to all kinds of things. But spanking/hitting/slapping= No way…Personally, no.
I am not entirely against corporal punishment if used sparingly and properly in some instances. But I don’t like the idea of it being outside of my control and my (name removed by moderator)ut. I want to know exactly what happened, when it happened, how it happened, what was leading to the instance… I don’t like the thought of an authority other than the parent making that kind of judgement call. But again, that’s just my personal opinion on it.
