Would you want to see or hear your guardian angel?

heres a question…

if god granted you the oppertunity to be able to see, hear and speak to your own holy guardian angel 24/7 for the rest of your life on earth…would you want to?

i would…but…i would only want to if god would block any other spirits or anything evil from speaking, appearing or coming near me…i would hate that to happen…although if you could see your holy guardian angel at your side i guess you wouldn’t be so scared…

can you ask god in prayer for this grace (to be able to see, hear and speak to your holy guardian angel…if it is his will) or is it wrong to do this?..

i personally would never do any of those new age techniques to see angels…but would it be ok to ask this of god in prayer…

what do you all think?..

We already do hear our guardian angels just not the way you are talking about.

I guess if God offered I would accept if it was only his will.
If I really wanted to hear my Guardian angel I would pray for it and ask that it happen only if it is God’s will.

I don’t know for sure but I think it is pretty much ok to ask for anything in prayer. God will only answer if he sees fit to do so.

I think our prayer, curiosity, and time could probably be spent better on prayer for other things.

thats probably right…i mean if you are praying for something that is not gods will then no amount of prayers will get you it…but if it is gods will then you are more likely to be granted what you are asking

I agree. We just had a seminar on Spiritual Warfare & the Holy Spirit & Sacraments at our parish and the speaker, a priest, told us a story about before he entered the priesthood and was at a convention for his job in New Orleans. His company had booked him at a really nice hotel but hadn’t paid so they gave him a company check and the hotel didn’t take it. So he only had about $200 cash so he found a hotel for $80 for one night but he wasn’t left with much money after that so he was basically stranded. So to make a long story short, this lady in a pink limo (who was wearing a white suit with pink accessories & was according to the pries about 6 foot tall) drove up in front of where he was sitting outside his hotel and said “You need help” and he refused but she kept insisting and he took the help and she set him up with a small hotel, bought his meals, & free transportation for the next 3 days. When he was ready to go home he asked what he could do to repay her and she said just do this for someone else. So he believes that that was his guardian angel. If it wasn’t she sure was a strange lady who happened to be nice!

It take years to figure out what they just said. You have to study scripture and talk to Priest just to understand one sentence. If I had a translater, it would be alright, but like water said, what would you be expected to do because of the help. I don’t think it would make any easier. Tim

I remember I read or heard somewhere that when St. Francis heard a musical note played by an angel, he went on ecstasy.

Quick story—my mom was in the Philidelphia Airport alone and is so ADD and directionally challenged (me too --i get it from her) and she had only a few minute to catch her flight back home. she was in tears. Out of the crowd of people came an elderly lady in sneakers and baseball hat wheeling some luggage, and asked her what the matter was. She led her to the righ terminal, clear on the other side of the airport, and then just walked off really fast before she could be thanked. The only thing my mom marvels at to this day is that she was very swift moving them through the crowds

Padre Pio, saw his too, and even had special gifts of bilocation. It strikes me that there must be a very good reason someone to have these gifts, for doing the Will of God, as in a special mission. This scares me too, just like you: that seeing evil things would be a likelihood too:bigyikes: Think about it, if you were so close to God that you would see your angel, it might get the devil ready for special attacks, to destroy your faith and move you away from focusing on His Plan…

so, I wouldn’t particularly WANT it, but accept it if it were God’s Will. But I would be quite prepared to work hard and suffer for it.

I wouldn’t ask for this specifically. Ask Him instead for the grace to follow His Will. If you you pray for this “special grace” why would you want it? Because you need to be assured in some way? Pray, instead, to accept the darkness of faith.

Right before my mom died, she was semi-comatose but still able to nod at my comments. I asked her if there were angels in the room with us and she nodded yes. I believe it so much because I was so at peace as she lay dying. And I believe now that she is with them as well. Thank you God for the gift of angels.

THis is beautiful. I don’t doubt that your mom saw this. The ocassional manifestation, done sometimes secretively also that leaves one wondering “could that have been an angel …???” Is wonderful too. your mom, in this case knew it was angels, to ease her suffering before her death. Daily familiarity is very unusual, though, unless for a special purpose.

Really , what I believe was said to me by an angel, maybe my g.a., was so scriptural and in such a depth, I need help discerning the meaning and I am still working on it til this day. "behold ,David counted his sheep and found they had multiplied " is what was said. This brought up David, the census, the hut of David mentioned in Amos 9:11, of course “Davids” sheep. It is not something I have been able to figure out completely and have had some help doing so. They are a alot smarter then me, as was Mary, Joseph and the wise men. Didn’t angels have to be explained before in scripture? I can’t recall where, Isaiah, Rev… Tim

Well there’s an old saying about being good to everyone in case you entertain an angel. I believe we meet and see them often, but we are not always given the grace to know it.

I think we do talk with the angels, you can momentarily entertain a bad thought and be guided away from that by thoughts that seem whispered to the mind, this could argueably be the conscience, but also it could be angels forming the conscience.

Of course we want to see and speak with angels this is part of desiring to be with Jesus in Heaven, but I don’t think we should make it a desire because desires are not altogether spiritually healthy. So we hope for this because we hope for heaven, we hope for Jesus, but we don’t desire it or make it a focus.

Personally I don’t think we keep our Guardian Angels busy enough. I send my Guardian Angel to adore Jesus for me before the Tabernacle all night until I get up. I send my Guardian Angel to people I know or hear of who are suffering to console and pray for them and be with them, in those times they have two Guardian Angels to minister to them.

Our Guardian Angels are very powerful and I try to remember to thank mine everyday.

My heart tells me that this is very true. When I read this my heart sank oh the idea of heavy crosses scares me to death. God is so creative who knows what your heavy cross could be. I think the worst cross I could bear would be to have my son kidnapped and I wouldn’t know if he was alive and be tortured or dead. I thought of that, and now I feel sick.

Again if God will’d it I would accept because how could I refuse? However I would be scared of what was to come so I don’t think I would go asking for it.

My Grandpa, as he was dying, kept pointing at the ceiling and saying “stop fighting.” He would look at us with tears in his eyes and wish they would stop fighting. I was to young so I don’t remember if anyone asked him who was fighting. But I’ve always thought it was the angels in their final battle over his soul.

I believe your mom saw angels. God rest her soul.
