How funny. I could just imagine all kinds of little old ladies…nuns at that, watching one of her videos and gasping and clutching their hearts LMBO… And that was a year ago, look how far down hill she’s gone since then.
Not just music wise, but I heard she’s cracking under pressure as well. Turning into somewhat of a ‘diva’. Living off of snickers bars and red bulls and constantly touring, though, would do that to anyone. I do admire her work ethic and sense of duty to her fans.

Haven’t heard anything about her being a diva, but then all celebrities end up with that complex anyway, so I wouldn’t be surprised. Living off Snickers bars and Red Bull is a sign of a manic and stressed life. I can’t say I’d be in the best of moods if that was my diet.
Charlotte, as to you previous post about this current generation being presented worse material than ours (I’m 27), at least they are not being fed the Spice Girls.

Although Katy Perry’s sentiments seem noble at face value, I think her videos and songs also reflect immodest and inappropriate themes which certainly contradict her so called christian roots.
It reminds me of those Evangelical pastors who preach the “Good Word” but then live a lifestyle totally contradictory to the gospels they preach.
If Katy was loyal to her christian values she would refrain from the overtly simulated sexual imagery and suggestive lyrics she employs in her work.
Especially when you consider the demographic age of her audience who are young impressionable teenagers.
She dresses like a tarted up trashy porn queen and there is nothing too Christian about her stage act.
The test is to “judge the tree by the fruit it bears”…and in my mind Kate does not pass the test.
As far as Lady Ga Ga is concerned, she has literally gone Ga Ga to the dark side and we should pray for her.

She doesn’t associate with her Christian roots at all anymore. I don’t know personally what her personal beliefs are but she rarely puts any of it in her videos or music. I think that was the point of her remarks, that she doesn’t use her religious background to sell records like Lady GaGa does.

The mainstream media is tempting people away from True, Romantic, sacrificial Love for spouse and kids by promoting love-less physical and chemical brain pleasurism. It’s the way to drag people away from the Church. Where’s the sacrificial love? It isn’t in these songs. People jonesing for the highs of selfish, instant gratification are easier to control.

Good to see Katy stick up for us here! I remember when she first released her debut album, she pointed out her past and that she’s always going to treat Christianity with respect, saying that “this is where I started out and it’ll likely be where I’m headed back when this pop thing fades.”

Oh please, Katy isn’t THAT talented. I personally cannot stand her at all because she’s such a sell out. I remember reading an interview about her in a magazine last summer and they asked her what she thought about sex/chastity. Her response was something along the lines of “I was a good little girl, then I went off to camp and wondered ‘Can I actually wait until marriage?’ giggle” or w/e. It was very sad and I’ve never liked her since.
