Writing about a Catholic retreat

I’m writing about a 17-year-old’s experience on a one-day retreat and I’m looking for reference material. Are there lectures, small group topics/guidance, etc online - the things counselors/leaders actually say and do on such a retreat?
 
I lead retreats for children and teens all of the time. There are many, many types of retreats. I have published materials that I use for planning and running retreats. Generally, there is an opening prayer, an ice breaker, a talk, group discussions, eating, activities and a liturgy.
 
Would you please give some examples - subjects, activities, etc - and are your published materials online?
 
Why don’t you yourself go on a retreat?
They are beneficial, even if not writing a story.
 
What is the reason for your inquiry? It would be helpful to know.
 
Then why are you writing about Catholic things? Anyway, you don’t have to be Catholic to go on retreat at a Catholic retreat center.
 
I’m writing about a currently Catholic. character and this part advances the story. 🙂
 
You’re writing a novel, then? I think the advice to go to a retreat day would be really useful.
 
I would suggest a Catholic retreat would be thorough research for a book. There is no reason why you wouldn’t be able to go on one, and there is no substitute for experience when it comes to research. We could give some brief words on the matter, but you’ll get more out of doing it yourself, imo.
 
Good idea! How might I find one? Talking to someone at a church, I imagine.
 
I should think so - depends where you are in the world as to what is available!
 
Retreats are most often at retreat centers.
Call the Archdiocese or Diocese in which you reside. They’ll
have a list.
