Hey everyone. I have wanted to write books for a long time now. Well, I just had an idea. What if I could write a fiction book with the purpose of evangelizing people through it? You know, something similar to the Chronicles of Narnia but with more of a Christian theme and more of an evangelization purpose. How would I go about doing this? Any ideas?

I would start by simply making your main character a devout Catholic and going from there. I would also caution you to make sure you have a story worth telling and not just to evangelize. I’ve read the Narnia books, which were filled with Christian imagery and allegory, but also had a genuinely good story narrative. They were story first, Christianity second, but only by a little. I’ve also read His Dark Materials, which were created to evangelize for atheism, and even if I didn’t disagree with the message, they weren’t very good. They were atheism first, story second. I would also say that if you are going to use allegory, don’t be afraid to be a bit subtle, most readers are far more intelligent than you might think, they’ll get the message without you beating it into them with a stick. 😉

Thanks for the reply Ladygem! I am currently writing a short story. I have only got part of it finished though and I am going to continue on it probably tomorrow. That said, I will share it with you all when I am done with it. 🙂

Well, this is the only short story I have ever written with a focus on Catholicism. I am not sure if it counts as an evangelization fictional story or what. Anyway, it is about a child who is in a serious accident, goes on to be healed and lives a very holy life and is canonized 128 years after his birth. I have attached the file.

Short stories is a thought.

Currently I am reading FATHERLESS by Brian Gail. It is a novel in which a priest is dealing with a parishoner who works for a pharmaceutical company which is covering up the rate of breast cancer with contraception. Gail uses a number of resources for the book.

Oops, I forgot to finish part of the story. I am going to finish that and upload a new file. Please ignore the old file.

Okay, here is the new file. I haven’t really proofread this or anything so I apologize if the story is sloppy or anything. It is attached to this post.
