Because I am preparing to write letters to my bishop and to the Eastern Catholic bishop, in whose Church I’m requesting to translate into, I was wondering if anyone here has gone through the process and if you have, would you mind sharing the experience with me, and giving me any pointers you think would be good. Feel fee to private message me, if you don’t feel comfortable discussing it in public. Thanks very much to all of you who have been most helpful to my family and I in the process we are going through.

Once again thanks and blessings

Under the newer Code it is simplified. In the old days everything had to go through the Pro-Nuncio in Washington, D.C.

You will write to the bishop of the particular ritual Church you wish to be received into. This letter should briefly and succinctly (bishops are very busy) describe the positive spiritual benefit you have experienced worshipping in the particular ritual tradition you are transferring into, and express your desire to become a permanent member of that particular ritual church. You should then also provide a copy to the Latin bishop with a courteous and respectful cover letter.

It helps immensely if the priest of the parish you are joining also puts in a good word to the receiving bishop verifying you are a participating member of the community of the particular ritual Church you are transferring to.
