Writings of Early Church fathers

Well, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted on here, but after a year or two…I’m back.

I have yet to read the writings of the early Church fathers. I am interested in an explanation of what these writings are and what they encompass.

Also, where is the best place to start with them? I know they are all on newadvent, but is there a recommended order or person to start with?

I would start with the Anti-Nicene Fathers(before the Council)
Clement of Rome
Ignatius of Antioch (letters)
Justin Martyr
Irenaous of Lyon
Rod Bennett book Four Witnesses is a good start and easy read
