Wuhan pastor - “If you do not feel a responsibility to pray, ask the Lord for a loving soul, an earnestly prayerful heart; if you are not crying, ask the Lord for tears,” the pastor concludes. “Because we surely know that only through the hope of the Lord’s mercy will this city be saved.”

Some much needed spiritual advice from a distant brother.

This photo is pretty disrespectful to the deceased and family.

Thank you for sharing. Beautiful advice from the pastor.

I feel like Catholics should do a worldwide day of fasting for those suffering from coronavirus and to ask God to remove this scourge, which along with the return of locusts to Africa and other odd illnesses breaking out, feels like we’re living through biblical plagues and pestilence.

I guess I thought about it as I was reading the other day that the Blessed Mother said in one of her apparitions that fasting could suspend the laws of nature.

Sounds like a good idea. Pass on the idea or let your Bishop know or even easier if you aren’t a young person then let them know they know how to make these ideas spread on social media.

Oh and just to say we pray for victims of coronavirus and there families pretty often at our daily mass and even Sunday mass.

I just finished my Rosary for today and dedicated it to Wuhan and the people in China. Will fast tomorrow specifically for this as well and also offering up tomorrows rosary as well~

The doctor who tried to warn people and was disciplined by the police for doing so has died of the virus. Please pray for his soul and for the other deceased.
It really is terrible how the government has covered this up and persecuted those who have spoken out, isn’t it.

I think that the Chinese communist government is one of the most oppressive disgusting regimes in world history.

They aren’t even the legitimate government of China - as the Vatican says, it is the Taiwanese government that should really be governing the mainland. Communism is a horrific oppressive system.

They are even replacing crucifixes at Catholic Churches with pictures of Xi J(name removed by moderator)ing, the president of China which is terrible.

In New Zealand, our biggest trading partner is China. I wish we didn’t rely on an oppressive communist government so much. Our country is free and a strong democracy, which is the opposite of the communists.

I agree, we should pray for his soul. And ask that the communists stop persecuting Christians, Muslims, or anyone else who dares to oppose this oppressive totalitarian dictatorship.

Soviet Union used to do this by replacing God with Stalin. They would teach kids to pray to Stalin instead of God. When the kids prayed to Stalin they would get candy. We simply must pray for things to change in China.

Due to the limited amount of truthful information out of China, it is still hard to measure what kind of position the world is in VS the Spanish Flu pandemic. Mortality rates varied from country to country, but it would really be helpful if China were more forthcoming. I don’t know if we are over reacting or under reacting.

I often pray for those in Chinese and North Korean labor camps. I will start praying for their flu victims as well.

I love this. Something as simple as giving up our comfort - a basic form of fasting - by putting ourselves in the place of someone afraid of the virus, or suffering from it, or having lost a loved one to it, or being under arrest in a collective field hospital, would I’d think be a welcome offering to support prayer.

Wonderful idea, thanks for sharing. I include at Mass the intention for the eternal repose of those who died from the corona virus, and the chaplet of Divine Mercy for the same.
