I am someone in the process of converting to Catholicism. I was involved in the Hare Krishna movement for a long time, and have been sensitive to the question, what will happen to all my friends, who are so devotely involved with a premise and orientation that seems to me completely false, and that of course completely excludes Christ except as just another “avatar.” But that isn’t the purpose of this new thread. I would like some help in dealing with what I find on this website. My first foray was to watch the video on Pope Ratzinger. Please watch it, and please comment on it and other aspects of the site. I know I will be called gullible. I only find that I am interested in stability and certainty. I have already discovered a preference for the traditional masses I have found via the sticky from Michael Stowe Bradley, Jr. (who is now on involved in active formation and service in a monastic order in Haiti, I think).

Is there a reason to be Catholic? Is brotherhood now so all inclusive that everything is relativized? Protestantism is fine; Judaism is fine; Krishna is fine.

Well first of all, don’t trust that website. To learn about Catholicism I suggest a far more reliable source.

If I analyzed every action of yours and presented everything in the most uncharitably way I would be able to “prove” you are pretty evil.
The same with the video from most holy family monastery.

Real Catholicism exists and you can be confident that even though there is some confusion out there the Church still exists.
There are plenty of people who don’t want it to exist because if there is a perfect Church then we all have to submit to it.
So people search for every reason to deny it.

God Bless

WARNING: Do not visit that website. They are schismatics and espouse heretical teachings.

Thank you - that brings it into balance. These intense conspiracy/heresy things can be found and will always be there and have always been there, and can be dangerously entertaining for a while. There is a way to find through the thicket of different approaches to Catholicism.

Prayer elevates me 😃 above the matter of this approach or that approach.

Sedevanctists are thankfully, only a very very small minority in the Church and even among traditionalist are still only a small minority.

They are a fringe group who even the overwhelming majority of traditionalists would reject. Rest assured that they are a fringe group, and are committing the grace sin of heresy.

Pray for them, but do not take their claims seriously.

As a Hare Krishna who is interested in Catholicism, I recomend you to investigate conservative but not heretical carmelite monks nuns and seculars instead. You will find some bathki (is my spelling ok?) like teachings in people like John of the Cross, Teresa of Avila and Therese of the Child Jesus. And get your Catholic Answers here.

Former Hare Krishna; I have been through an enormous conversion process and still occasionally have enormous questions, like the one following.

Besides the fact that it is beautiful, compelling, nourishing and more…
What is the point of being Catholic if all paths lead to “glory” so to speak? The relativism question which is also related in a way to New Age thinking. I find some stress in wondering what is the responsibility and what will “become of” my devoted Hare Krishna friends and former friends - as well as anybody who doesn’t believe Christ is any more than another “avatar.” But who takes their religion as seriously as possible, or at least tries to “live a good life.”

*My attraction to conservatism in Catholicism may partly stem from a need for some certainty on a mental level, about certain things. * It used to be that you had to be Catholic to be saved, and that if you even had a suspicion that the Catholic Church was the One True Church, and didn’t investigate further, you were committing a mortal sin.

Pay no attention to Mr. Dimond and his cohorts. Take this from a parishoner of the place he used to run after his predecessor’s death.

Thank you and thank you for that interesting website! I added it to my favorites to investigate.

welcome to CAF. its pope benedict xvi not pope ratzinger. we don’t call him that. 🙂 of course there is reason to be Catholic. if your searching for Christ and His True Church your in the right place here to find out about it.being here is a good start to getting your questions answered. if you have specific questions about the faith, find the appropriate forum, or ask an apologist. this site takes care of practically any question you want answered about the Catholic faith.

if you want to truly be a Catholic, contact your nearest church and ask to enroll in their RCIA program. then go from there.

I’m in rcia. I wrote that incorrect name late at night when I was oriented heavily toward the wrong name from the video (the only one I watched at that website), which uses his last name repeatedly as a way and in a tone of voice which is very negative. I recovered from the site through replies to this thread, and through talking with Fr. Vincent.😃 I noticed that the Divine Mercy devotion is put down there, too. I am involved with that devotion. I also noticed that Padre Pio is there, in the form of a book which is full of recollections of people from their association with him - the only thing I noticed onthe site that didn’t seem contaminated by the atmosphere there. Of course I am continuing with the Divine Mercy devotion.

I spent an HOUR looking at all that baloney! How strange that I was just looking at that last week.
Fortunatly I was raised Catholic and have come back after a 10-year absence. Even though I was ‘angry’ at the Church for a long time I am fortunate enough to know that stuff is false. To corrupt an old adage, If it sounds too mean to be true, it probably is.

Just thought I’d throw in my 2 cents. 🙂

Thank you for the helpful message. Spent over an hour but barely scratched the surface :hypno: These people are isolated and I don’t see how it is going to be possible for them to continue indefinitely in the bitterness and anger that boils over within them…in time, the Holy Spirit performs various changes (perhaps especially if some of us pray for them) and they will mellow out…like the great name mellowcheddar.😃

I encourage the OP to pursue traditional Catholicism and the TLM by all means, but pay no attention to the Dimond brothers; they’re extreme even by extreme traditionalist standards.

Thank you.
I’ll watch the video as you asked us to.
In the meantime, did you find some blatant or even subtle heretical statement by its producers?
A lie maybe?
If you have anything to point to in the video I’ll zero in on it.
Same for anyone else that views it.
[Yips! It’s an Hour long!] Ok, I’ll skip the Cowboys Game this weekend once the Cowboys lead by 21 points…

No, no and no.

All I know is that these people advertise like crazy on the Alex Jones Show found at PrisonPlanet.com also by Alex. They seems to get everything right but the part about where the New World Order comes from. They blame the Vatican for everything from control of the banks, media, the CFR, politicians, etc.

From looking in this website to researching for myself, nothing could be further from the truth. But there is something that’s confusing. I believe one of their accusations is about Pope Pius X maybe? That he was a freemason and therefore infiltrated the Church to change it’s policies which led to Vatican II?

Can someone help me out on this part? Why did the Vatican change policies, by whom was it done, was the Pope a freemason infiltrating the Church, did anyone queston his freemasonary, does the Church stand by him to this day, why or why not, etc.

I am faithful to my religion and will be the first to admit that I am not that well versed in it but I am learning. I have found alot of the responses to anti-Catholicism here and was I ever elated to find those. It seems to me that anti-Catholics are very well taught on how to attack us but man, do they ever HATE for us to defend ourselves!

God bless

elijio,

Pope Pius X is a canonised Saint. The canonisations of Saints are infallible acts. This shows the lunacy of what unfortunately comes out of “Most Holy Family Monastery”. They also think St. Thomas Aquinas was a heretic.

Is that enough? 🙂
