I think one reason I was so hooked on that episode is that I believed it was really an episode of Cops. It looked real for the whole first segment, right up until the police officer on the show started freaking out and running, then they broke and played the X-Files intro.

I was able to see the X-Cops episode again last week. I still think it’s one of the best episodes! Lot’s of humor in it, and it is a relatively creepy story.

I recently found out something that made me happy. The 2400 Motel in Vancouver, B.C. is considered to be the favorite motel used by the X-Files staff.

And I’ve stayed there! Twice!! Once on my honeymoon and once alone on a trip to Canada. It’s a retro motel, although “retro” is probably a misnomer. It just never modernized so the rooms probably look the same as they looked when the motel opened. I don’t mean that it’s full of junky furniture and things like that as everything is kept in good condition (when I stayed there), but it definitely is not a modern hotel.

I enjoyed my stays there. Maybe I even stayed in a room that was used during the filming of an X-Files episode!! Wow!!

By the way, I forgot a scene in Season 2 that I did not include here!

Ascension - Scully’s cross is found in the trunk of Duane Barry’s car as a clue and Mulder acquires it. When it seems bleak they will find Scully again, Mulder meets with Scully’s mother who is a very devout Catholic as we learn especially in the Gethsemane-Redux trilogy episodes in seasons 4-5. Scully’s mother said she gave it to Scully on her 15th birthday. Scully’s mother even here shows strong faith. She refuses Mulder’s offer to take the cross, instead telling him to give it to her when he finds her. :o One piece of trivia here is that in the episode Christmas Carol (season 5), Scully’s mom is depicted giving the cross to Scully for Christmas and Scully looks well-younger than 15. :o

It is a fun episode in its crazy way. :o
