X-men and tattos

I was watching X-Men 2 the other day and Nightcrawler had a bunch of tattos which made me think. Not, that I want to go out and get any but, what is the churchs postion on Tattos?

Also, Nighcrawler said that his were symbols handed down to us from the archangel Gabreil. Now I know it is a movie but, I am curious did Gabreil really give us some or was it just something to talk about?

I don’t know about the angel Gabriel thing.

I do know the church has no official position on tattoos. I’d reccommend what I do and get as many tattoos as possible (if you like them).

This gets kind of complicated…some truth, some fiction…

The ‘Angelic Symbols’ are a the Enochian alphabet that appeared in the 16th century. This is probably what is being referred to. These symbols are used in magic rituals to conjure angels. Mostly used by wiccans & other ‘New Agers’…

The thing is, it does seem to be rooted in traditional Angelology, but draws from Christian, Jewish (Talmudic, Cabalic, & Essene), & Muslim sources. Not really something to get mixed up in IMHO.

The important thing to realize about getting tattoos is that it WILL and SHOULD affect the way that people will look at you. Is this wrong? No, simply because you choose the way you look.

In the end it is your call. Do keep in mind two things:

1. Your body is a temple of the holy spirit
2. “Everything is lawful, but not everything is beneficial”
