I have problems your premise, obviously, or I wouldn’t have requested specific examples. But for the sheer sake of argument…

How is that not congruent with the Constitution of the United States? There is freedom of speech and right to assemble. I’m always a tad concerned when someone’s skin is so thin it can’t take criticism. I kinda want to tell them to come back when they’re out of pull-ups.

If some guy’s experience is that all blacks, browns, greens, yellows or whites, are shiftless drunks, he gets to say so. If I don’t agree, I get to say so. I don’t have to respond or even read posts from someone I deem to be off the reservation ( and I usually don’t)

I have seen posters, gee, even one or two on this thread, make little digs at beliefs and statements towards others, and then finish it with a smiley face.🙂 Does it make it all alright? I don’t think so.😦

Who gets to be the arbitrator of when it’s okay to make fun of someone’s beliefs or leanings and when it’s no?

As a recovering leftist, I can honestly say there are few things in this world less tolerant than a liberal who doesn’t get his way. Further, I think terms like “xenophobe”, “homophobe”, “racist” and so on, are used by the left to cower opposition. It is only of late conservatives have stopped cowering and rebutted the terms and corrected the record.
Xenophobia is not a term used as a weapon by the left. It is an action that belittles people.
Xenophobia comes from being extremely patriotic. I’m all for being a patriot, but not at the expense of others.

No I’m saying that people are not ridiculed on this forum for being racist, yet Obama voters are ridiculed.
I haven’t seen any Obama voters “ridiculed” on these forums. I have, however, seen their choice to vote for Obama called sinful. Do you think it might have something to do with his stance on abortion??

Xenophobia is an anxiety-based mental disorder. I’m not sure if it’s classed as a specific or social phobia. Either way, there are probably treatments for this irrational** fear** of strangers.

Sorry, I disagree. I used to work intimately with leftist organizations. To silence dissent with our cause, we would often use terms, such as xenophobe, racist, anti immigrant, anti poor, anti working man, fascist, sexist, etc. It’s a page out of the Alinsky playbook.

One cowers the opposition by playing on* their fear* of being intolerant. Facts be damned.

In the manner it is co opted by the left, it cheapens true episodes of any of the the anti’s and isms. BTW, examples?

I used it as an example of how people are ostracized for voting a democrat.
It’s not that he is a democrat. It’s that he’s pro-abortion. By being pro-abortion, he supports violating the “you shall not kill” commandment.

That’s where most of us have the problem, it’s with the grave sin he supports.

Why are the pro liberal catholics on this forum ridiculed yet xenophobia is allowed?
CAF membership is heavily conservative. In the US, we have radio and television shows which promote a rah-rah “hooray for us” conservative message and which mocks those on the left. My guess is that some of the CAF members carry over this attitude in posting here because CAF often feels like their club. But, honestly, it isn’t as bad as it used to be.
Same reason pro life Catholics are demeaned.
Hm? Could you provide some examples of where pro-life Catholics have been demeaned here at CAF?

I just wanted to point out that conservatives also demonize people with such terms as “fascist”, “elitist” or “anti-American”… Its not just a problem of the left.
