For those following the Julian Calendar, a blessed Святий Вечер tommorrow evening and Christmas on January 7th! (Kutya is already boiling…)

Do some Eastern Rite Catholic churches use the old calender as well? I did not know this. I thought only some of the Eastern Orthodox churches still used the old calender?

**CHRIST IS BORN! LET US GLORIFY HIM! **

Thanks Father Deacon!

p.s. yes, luvs2learn: Ukrainian Catholics in Canada celebrate Sviat Vechir and Christmas on January 6 and 7 as well.

Merry Christmas! 🙂

Ukrainians use both calendars, sometimes even in the same eparchy! Several others do as well. (Mention of this is made on several UGCC Canadian parishes’ websites).

Ukrainian Catholics in Ukraine are totally on the Old Calendar, including Pascha.

Dear luvs2learn - as Andrew has stated, there are a number of parishes of the UGCC in Canada that are Julian Calendar. In the US there are also several Old Calendar parishes in each Eparchy and the Archeparchy.

Sharing with you in your joy at the Nativity of our Lord!
“Heaven and earth are united today, for Christ is born.”
