Just a few days ago I was in my World History class. Our teacher was talking about the ancient Hebrews. Well as he was talking about them I was flipping through the chapter looking at what it was about. It was about Egypt, Mesopatamia, Palestine, and other ancient kingdoms and empires.
As I was reading and comparing our God of the Hebrews and the gods of the other empires I began to look at God more deeply. He was really the true God and different from the false gods in these manners.

1.He was always with his people…he is everywhere!
2.He is just but also kind and compassionate.
3.Unlike the false gods he actually called the People to a covenant…this just proves even more that he is the true God. He was a personal God in which everyone was called to be in relationship with.

Now when I learned the meaning of the name Yahweh, I was really touched. It means “I am the one who is always present.” Even more I felt I was called to a deeper conversion and a deeper relationship with “the one who is always present.” I never really understood God’s love that much until then because I know he is always present. We have much to thank our Jewish fathers for.
Please could I ask you to pray for my conversion?

Perhaps he feels Catholic, but isn’t yet, technically! I’ve been there before.

What conversion? Your profile says you’re Catholic.
Well as Catholics, we are called to convert from sin everyday and grow closer to God. Conversion is a lifelong thing. I wish that people would pray for me so that I could grow closer to God. This time of my life is a very confusing and painful one in which I am learning more about my faith than the faith my parents gave me as a child.

Amen! Dark periods of the soul happen to we cradle Catholics (and doubtless people of all faiths) at various points in our lives. Mine coincided with leaving my family to attend university. At 32 I’ve only just reverted this year.

Of course you have my prayers, and I hope you’ll pray for me as well - I don’t think there’s a person alive who doesn’t need 'em!

Thank you and I will pray for you. I just want to be Catholic at heart. I want to call God Father and Brother. It just doesn’t seem that way. I know that He is “always present.” but it doesn’t seem that way at home. We go to Church some Sundays and then we never speak of God until the next Sunday we go to Church.

To me I seem more of a hypocite than a child of God. I want to become just that…a child through the Son of the Most High. When I read about Yahweh my heart was moved by his kindness. It didn’t take me long to realize that it is our God they were talking about. I pray that by his grace we can all become his children.
At this point in my life all is confusing. There is hardly anyone I can turn to my age that feels the way I do about God.

We are extreamely blessed to know God in the personal way we do as Catholics. Yaweh is God’s mysterious name and He revealed it to the Jewish people as a sign of His faith in them. Don’t we have a loving God?

When I first discovered what Yaweh meant, I was moved as well. Learning God’s very name for us as humans is a great gift to the soul. I also was curious at what Jesus referred to God as since Jesus spoke Aramaic. He referred to Him as either “Abba” or “Abwoon” which means “Creator and mover of the cosmos”. Cool how similar they are huh?

Just keep praying. It sounds as though God has really been working in your life and is calling you to a much deeper relationship with Him. I will certainly keep you in my prayers. Christ’s peace be with you always!

Thank you. I will keep you in mine as well. I really want people to pray for me because this is a hard time for me.
