Thanks Rabbi. Anyway, is this just a name, or are you really a rabbi? I mean no offense, since being from Indonesia, I never have a friendly discussion with a Jewish Rabbi in my life, and I wish I could.

You are correct, Rabbi. I often hear my priest use the name Yeshua HaMasshiah. Is it true, that instead of using YHWH you call God as “HaSheem”? I know that it means “The Name” in the most respectful manner.

Jews are the final authority on how ‘YHWH’ should be pronounced. Though they see both ‘Yahweh’ and ‘Jehovah’ as incorrect, they did use ‘Jehovah’ once in their translation. So perhaps ‘Jehovah’ is less erroneous than ‘Yahweh’?
 
THe correct pronunciation and spelling of God’s true name is…

I agree this is a good link as it shows from the Greek and Hebrew tthat the "name"Jesus is the name we should focus on and discussion of the names of the Father are of little value to our salvation. In modern times we have a fine example of the Jehovah’s Witnesses trying to use a name in a kind of magical sense. That is to say you must follow their sect because they claim a kind of renovation copyrite on that name. This detracts from the true way and path to salvation the name and person Jesus.
 
IMO, the more names you can come up with to describe God, the better. It reminds us that no name is adequate.

Yes, there is a ‘J’ in German, yet its pronunciation is more like a ‘Y’; thus ‘Jesus’ =‘Yesus’ or ‘Juden’=‘Yuden’. The J sound can be maintained in words of foreign origin though.

As for ‘W’, it is pronounced like the English ‘V’; thus ‘warm’=‘varm’.

Perhaps both (Jehovah or Yahweh or whatever) is fine, but to claim that one form is correct than the other…After all, ‘Yahweh’ is but a (widely-accepted) scholarly reconstruction and ‘Jehovah’ is a (popular, yes) misreading. In the end, we still do not definitely know what is the true pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton, YHWH.
 
But calling God in the OT as Jehovah does bring the problem some Jewish poster just brung here. It can mean “God is destroyed”. Not good.
In spanish all modern Catholic Biblic editions use Yavè or Yawè for this reason. Only the protestant spanish Bibles use Jehovà. And it was weird for me read a protestant Gideon Bible in english and read LORD every time I read in my old Catholic highschool Bible Yawè.
It leaded me as a teenager to think Bible loving protestant have weird Bibles. And lead me to question the Bible in general. Only now I have found the truth. I love this tread.
