Beautiful Church for sure. Thanks for sharing those. I prefer a traditional style of Church design myself, but understand with the size of some parishes why it cannot always be done. As long as in moving to a ‘round’ design they maintain an aura of reverence and worship, I am fine with it regardless of my preference.
 
Thanks for sharing those pics. I think that is an excellent example of just what you describe. Modern, yet beautiful and reverent. It appears to have an active congregation as well! Very nice!!

I attend a “large” parish here in Greenville. About 2000 families I think at last count, but don’t hold me to it. Unfortunately, we usually have a Priest, maybe a Deacon, and then two altar servers, sometimes three. I don’t think I have ever seen so many people crowded around an altar! Those pictures were just amazing and it is apparent that Parish is thriving!!!

Thats more people than belong to the whole Southern Baptist Convention. 2015 people were in the rite of Christian Election here in Atlanta last year. It took 45 mintues to read all the names. Why don’t you come down to Atlanta from Montana and see the habited Dominican Sisters teaching at alll the schools and the minivans driving around with bumperstickers with a chalice and host and the words “I believe”.

Let me clarify. That was the first day for the new church (August 14 20010) The first mass (and blessing of the church) is being served by the Bishop of the Diocese of Arlington (our pastor is behind the kneeling seminarian). The parish had 5 priests at on that day but one retired that month. All the others in attendance are priests from other parishes (with our two deacons). We now have four wonderful priests.

The bell tower (with working bells!) was donated by our local K of C. It’s nice to hear The Angelus rang out daily.

Why don’t we nip this in the bud and stop the back and forth arguing befofe it gets out of hand?

This thread is about Catholics in the South…that’s all. Can’t we celebrate that? I wouldn’t blame the OP if he asked to have the thread closed before it got nasty.

Well it was FREEZING in Central Florida today like degrees which for us in the south is like Sub zero, but I still made to mass for the Celebration of Mary the Immaculate Conception. It was a little sad that I was by far the youngest person there and by young I mean 33.😦 It was a beautiful mass though and the Readings and Homily were amazing.😃
