Yea rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God, and keep it.

(Luke 11:27,28)And it came to pass, as he spoke these things, a certain woman from the crowd, lifting up her voice, said to him: Blessed is the womb that bore thee, and the paps that gave thee suck. 28But he said: Yea rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God, and keep it.

Above in Luke 11: 27,28 we have a woman above praising Virgin Mary, but our Lord in turn praises His Mother Mary even more than the woman, by saying “Yea rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God, and keep it.”** Because who hears the word of God and keeps it better than Mary?** Jesus Christ, knew no one kept/keeps Gods word in Her Heart better than Mary His Mother. Again, Jesus Christ is Praising His Mother Mary even better than the woman above, and knowingly so.

Who here at CAF or since the creation of the world hears and keeps the word of God better than Virgin Mary, the Mother Of Jesus Christ?

What are your thoughts in this? Is Jesus Christ Praising His Mother More than the woman above yes or no?

If your answer is no, then please tell me who hears the word of God and keeps it better than Mary and yes many hear the word of God and keeps it, but who above all.

He was rebuking the woman.
Indifferently,

Virgin Mary filled with the Holy Spirit, spoke “all generation shall call me blessed”. What this woman was doing was calling Virgin Mary Blessed, there is no wrong in that. Why would Jesus Rebuke the woman for calling Virgin Mary Blessed, when Scripture tell us to do so. Amen.

Indifferently, you are wrong!

Our Lady *is *the one who hears the word of God and keeps it. In other words, our Lord is pointing out why she is blessed.

St. John Chrysostom writes: In this answer He sought not to disown His mother, but to show that His birth would have profited her nothing, had she not been really fruitful in works and faith. But if it profited Mary nothing that Christ derived His birth from her, without the inward virtue of her heart, much less will it avail us to have a virtuous father, brother, or son, while we ourselves are strangers to virtue. I don’t know if it was Jesus’ intent to praise His mother to an even greater extent thanthe woman, or as Indifferently says, He was rebuking the woman. The fact is that the Blessed Virgin is considered by many to be the greatest Christian in history. I have no reason to doubt that assessment.
“[Mary is the] highest woman and the noblest gem in Christianity after Christ . . . She is nobility, wisdom, and holiness personified. We can never honor her enough. Still honor and praise must be given to her in such a way as to injure neither Christ nor the Scriptures.” - Luther

It was certainly not a rebuke. Jesus affirms the beatitude and expands it to include all who follow God’s Word.

If you keep God’s Word, then you are also included in this woman’s blessing.

Amen… and Remember what Mary told the servants to do… “Do whatever He tells you.”

Yes, and Mary kept the Word perfectly, in her actions, in her heart, and she received the word of God in her body, the word become flesh… Jesus was directing the woman to be like his mother… that is…hear His Father’s Word and keep it…

In addition to what has been said, the passage could be more accurately translated as the woman praising the motherhood of Jesus’ mother - the DR, for example, has the woman saying “blessed is the womb that bore you” and the like. In this sense, the exchange could be read as “blessed is your mother for the fact that she is your mother” followed by “Yes, but [yeah, rather] …”

That is, it is not that the woman was wrong to praise Mary, but rather that she was not focusing on the most important part of what Mary did (the obedience that has been referenced).
