Well, while I can’t say that my own Diocese of Shreveport has come around (despite rumors on here back in the Spring), praise God I found out that my home town of Natchitoches now hosts two masses of the Extraordinary Rite per week, one daily mass on Tuesday morning (8 AM) and one Sunday Mass on Sunday afternoon (4 PM) at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, proto-cathedral for the Diocese of Alexandria). I can’t make it down until mid-November, due to prior obligations at my parish and with the wife’s work. So I have a bit of time to do some reading. Can anyone pass along some helpful information for a first timer. I know I could have posted that without the build-up but I am so excited for Natchitoches!

Perfect! By the way, here’s a pic of the Church!

Some nice views of the interior here on this page: neworleanschurches.com/nacht_cath/index.htm

Ignore the name of the link, Natchitoches is a couple hundred miles upriver from New Orleans on an abandoned channel of the Red River.

Beautiful pictures!!! 🙂 🙂

We just celebrated our first anniversary of the extraordinary rite at the Cathedral in my diocese. 🙂

What’s funny, is that if my grandparents had raised my mother Catholic, this would have been my parish. But the Baptist side of my family won out, and I was raised Baptist in a town with a strong Catholic history. Now I am Catholic in a Baptist stronghold, lol.

I spent a couple of years attending a Southern Baptist church before I started RCIA. Where I live, it’s mostly Lutheran or Catholic… Baptist was definitly the minority. Isn’t it wonderful to be home? 🙂 😃 🙂

Yes it is! I’m teaching the RCIA presentation tomorrow night, lol! 😃
