I am concerned by the hopelessness which our youth is facing in light of the so-called Mayan end-of-the-world “prediction” hype for 2012.
What “hopelessness” is our youth facing?I am concerned by the hopelessness which our youth is facing in light of the so-called Mayan end-of-the-world “prediction” hype for 2012.
I just saw that article this morning too. It’s funny b/c I was just last week tryign to find something online shedding factual light on the whole thing and not just propoganda to make money. I could hardly find anything. I was actually shocked this article came outI don’t know any youth who buy into this hoax, but I know plenty of alarmist conspiricy theorizing millenial great chastisement so-called Christians who are deluded, most of them in a much older cohort.
Is there a link to a news story? no? I thought not.
here is one on Yahoo this morning
news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091011/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/lt_mexico_apocalypse2012
but since Mayans are not Catholic, nor is the History Channel or other outlets trying to make a buck on this thing, why this choice of forum? Has the pope made a statement I missed?
Here’s the REAL story.I just saw that article this morning too. It’s funny b/c I was just last week tryign to find something online shedding factual light on the whole thing and not just propoganda to make money. I could hardly find anything. I was actually shocked this article came out.
Here’s the REAL story.
There was this Mayan whose job it was to construct the calenders (pretty cushy if you ask me, maybe he doubled as the royal dishwasher). He got a little carried away one night and just kept going. When he reached the year 2012, he put his hand over his heart and had (quoting Fred Sanford), the ‘big one’.
If he had kept going who knows where he would have stopped.

This is pretty much what I’ve always thought. It was some guys job to make the calendars. He went out so far, and finally thought, “How far do they want me to go?!? Enough already! I want to go fishing! Life is too short to work all the time” And he quit at 2012.

From what the article said there is some sort of counting of the days involved and the calendars cycle does stop in 2012. From my limited understanding though, even though the stopping was meaningful to Mayan belief, as far as the end of the world goes it is no more meaningful than New Years Eve.This is pretty much what I’ve always thought. Well Windows XP won’t accept a date in the calendar beyond 2099This is pretty much what I’ve always thought. It was some guys job to make the calendars. Did you catch the movie trailer for ‘2012’? From Sony pictures, special effects look great, Hollywood can cash in on anything. Plots probably going to be pretty simple, basically the planet goes kaput. Check out the Movie web site below,I am concerned by the hopelessness which our youth is facing in light of the so-called Mayan end-of-the-world “prediction” hype for 2012.
Well I’m looking forward to the end of the world
and so should most Christians… been to confession lately?![]()
Maybe archeologists misinterpreted it completely and it only meant to say he clocked out at 20 to 12.This is pretty much what I’ve always thought. It was some guys job to make the calendars. Perhaps nobody expects Windows to be around in 90 years?Well Windows XP won’t accept a date in the calendar beyond 2099. Apparently Bill Gates (or at least somebody that used to work for him) thinks that’s when the world is going to end.

I take from that the world will end 12/31/2099Well Windows XP won’t accept a date in the calendar beyond 2099. Apparently Bill Gates (or at least somebody that used to work for him) thinks that’s when the world is going to end.
