Hi.

As you know, we’ll be entering the Pauline Year in a few months. I also remember that in the late 1990s, years were dedicated to each Person of the Trinity. If I’m not mistaken, there was a year dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary too.

My question is, is every year dedicated to something? If so, is there a list or something of all of the dedicated years?

Also, is the Pauline Year a Jubilee year? Will it be like the Jubilee 2000?

I’m no expert, but I believe Jubilee years usually come around after periods of about 25 - 50 years (with some exceptions). 2000 was a special jubilee year. I think the pope has to declare the jubilee year, so there isn’t a list of future jubilee years. I don’t remember hearing that the Pauline Year would be a jubilee year and I don’t expect that it will be (I think it would have been mentioned already).

Yeah, you’re right about it being every 25 years, plus some exceptions. 1983 was made a Jubilee to commemorate the 2000th anniversary of the birth of the Mother of God.

I was looking around online; some Catholic news site noted that the Pauline Year will be a Jubilee. I’m guessing it would be lower-key than the Great Jubilee of 2000, but it seems that Jubilees are Jubilees.

Take a look here:

And for the official announcement from the Holy Father, look here:
