What is the Eastern Churches approach to the Year of the Priest? Or is it something that will pass them by without much relevance? I ask since the Latin Church is using it, among other things, to reaffirm the value of celibacy, and since the Eastern churches allow for married clergy, I think it’s a legitimate question. Also, the Curé d’Ars is the model being offered. Is this also just for the Latin Church?

It seems to me that EVERY year of this or that is basically a Latin thing. The Eastern Churches don’t seem to be taken much into account.

Patriarch Lubomir of Kiev has requested one of the Bishops’ Synods be devoted to the Eastern Church. I’m sure he would support a “Year of the Eastern Churches.”

You’d be surprised how many Latin Catholics there are who are simply not aware of them.

In all fairness to the Holy Father, 98% of the faithful are Latins. Regardless, how was the Year of St. Paul (which just concluded), or the Year of the Eucharist, strictly Latin?

I know the Eastern Catholic priest at a parish I go to has mentioned it a few times and posted something in the bulletin.
