Last year was the Year of the Rosary, then this past year we had Year of the Eucharist. Do we know yet what this next year will be? Or will it not be announced until after the synod? Just curious . . .

There is talk about a year of penance. I think it should be a year of Evangelism or a year of getting “Back to the Basics” personally. There is also some talk of extending the year of the Eucharist to another year.

Thank you for your response.

With the popularity of the subject on these forums - I am sure many would be in favor of a year of addressing liturgical abuses . . . maybe a chance to get reacquainted with the Mass. Perhaps encourage traditions that are being forgotten or passed over for more “user-friendly” Masses. I think that we do need to evangelize and reach the public - but at the same time maintain our integrity and time honored traditions that make us who we are. I know many churches that could use a refresher course on honoring the rituals and customs of our Holy Catholic Church.

Year of Catechesis? The year of penance also sounds good to me.

I’m under the impression that since a “Year of…” hasn’t been announced yet, there won’t be a special year this coming year.

I vote for Year of…

…hmm…

something to counter the “cafeteria catholicism” or “ethnic catholic” sect…

Year of Truth… I like that.

But, my vote does not count, and you asked about what is, not about my opinion, so I’ll leave it there.

Alright, then.

Year of the Roma Locuta Est, Causa Finita Est

Year of the If You Are Going To Call Yourself Catholic You Should Believe What The Church Teaches

Year of Evangelization to Idiots
(this one may be a bit contraversial. no offense intended.)

Year of Catholic Doesn’t Mean What Most Of You Think It Means

Year of Intolerance
(I would particularly enjoy the contraversy this would draw.)

Perhaps I better stick with “Year of Truth.”

I like Catechesis - but think that should be for 2007 (assuming this ‘Year’ thing might be a trend for a few years) and announced in 2006 to give our Bishops and priests time to plan for the Catechesis they would like to commit to.

I don’t think there will be one - it would have been announced already.

If there is one in Pope Benedict’s time, given his agenda I thinkit will be Liturgy or Ecumenism.
