Yep, they are actually making an Indiana Jones 5

After the disaster that we got with the Kingdom of Crystal Meth? No thanks. I like Indiana Jones, but a 75 year old action star is a really hard sell. Trying to hand over the reins to Shia LaBeouf never really panned out either. Plus I won’t be able to stomach Indy in the 1960s.

Just goes to show that Disney will dredge up anything they think they’ll make a ton of cash on even if it destroys the property in the process.
 
I don’t know, I kinda liked Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I’ll probably watch it. I have bad taste in movies, I guess, haha. 😃

I thought disney only bought rights to star wars…i doubt they are making this…

Ford is too old to do his own stunts and look what happened during TFA filming…he was injured…i can’t see him risking another injury. It should have stopped at three movies… Last Crusade ended perfectly…going off into the sunset…

Disney bought all of LucasFilms and associated rights. This included both Star Wars and Indiana Johns, but also Willow, Labyrinth, and other Lucas properties. It also included all the LucasFilm subsidiaries like Industrial Light and Magic and Skywalker Sound (visual and audio special effects companies) as well as LucasArts, the video game arm. So if we see a third American Graffiti it would be Disney or a Disney licensee.

I agree that the Last Crusade was a good ending. Trying to bring it back nearly 20 years later and switching out the Russians for the Nazis was a stretch. I might watch it when it gets to be a free movie on Netflix or Amazon Prime, but I just think pulling it out of the 40s and shoving it into the 60s or 70s will lose much of it’s charm.
 
I already have some top secret information this movie. It’ll be titled: Indiana Jones and the Secret of the Retirement Home.

You know, thinking about it, this movie writes itself. I can already picture the opening scene.

I’m with you. 😃 I’ll watch it. I guess I’m the target audience for things like this. I like seeing these old franchises brought to life again. I don’t even really mind so much if they beat a movie franchise into the ground. If they release a movie that is truly terrible, I can just ignore it. 🤷 But if it’s good, then it’s something new to enjoy.

I don’t think the plot will be carried into the nineteen seventies. IJ as an action hero that old would be unbelievable. And the 1970s were not a very interesting decade.

Since Sean Connery’s still alive, maybe he can reprise his role as Indie’s father. I picture a real geriatric filmfest: wheelchair chase scenes and all.

Because clearly, no one in the movies ever really has to die… at least from old age, that is.

Sean Connery is retired and turned down Crystal Skull. So Indy’s dad is probably dead.

Maybe they can get John Rhys Davies to come back though.

Even though I’m not too thrilled by the idea of watching 75 year old Ford use a whip again, I know I’ll be in the theaters watching it opening weekend. I’m just a sucker for these things too.

I thought the last movie only really fell apart in the final act personally. I liked it up until then. The motorcycle chase and the diner scene were a lot of fun. But the Crystal Skull itself was pretty weak. Not as interesting as the Ark or even the Holy Grail.

Who knows, the odd number Indy’s always seem to be better. Maybe this one will turn out to be good. Spielberg’s directing, so it could go either way.

Honestly, I barely remember what happened in Crystal Skull. I don’t remember disliking it. :o

I don’t know if it’s just my memory deteriorating with age or if they simply aim to make movies that seem pleasant enough to sit through with memorability being a secondary concern.

I always liked Temple of Doom. :o Probably because that was the one that always seemed to be on TV, so I saw it more than the others. Yeah, it could go either way. But I’m open enough to see them try and optimistic enough to believe they might actually succeed.

Its hollywood though, if they think they can rake in some profit, they can come up some silly reason why Indy could still be an action star!

Maybe they could say his last encounter with those inter dimensional aliens and being on their ship, caused him to somehow not age that quickly, or something equally silly! lol

Oh, I think Harrison Ford could have retired decades ago and still have many millions in the bank, enough to last his grandkids kids lives.

A -list actors ‘going wage’ is about $20 million per movie
