Has anyone heard of the Little Rock Catholic Study Bible? If so, what are your thoughts.

Currently I have been using the New American with KJV and the Douy Rheims as a back up for references.

I also think I may buy the NJB. Relatively cheap on half.com.

Please let me know what your thoughts are on the Little Rock Catholic Study Bible, thank you! (It is the New American Translation)

Thank you! I knew if I posted yet another Bible Study question someone would have some knowledge, THANK YOU. I am going to try and make a purchase of this study bible on your recommendation.

The Little Rock bible study program is quite popular in many places here (in Michigan).

But, I don’t care for it.

I think it sails over bible readings too quickly. My experience is that there are typically three chapters of scripture to read. There are supplementary commentary readings. The ones I saw disappointed me, because they involved a lot of paraphrasing of the scripture that I just read. Then, there are a lot of questions to answer.

Not all the people in my group prepared in advance, so they basically had “nothing” to say during the discussion. The leader has an “answer” book. So there is a sense of you’re-right-and-you’re-wrong about taking a shot at answering a question. Then, there’s a video commentary that may have nothing to do with the scripture that was discussed that evening.

I was in such a study in two different states, and neither one impressed me.

But, a lot of people like it and it’s quite popular in my diocese in Michigan.

At the study group in Illinois, they started the meeting with a “holy hug” as scripture directs us. I surely was surprised by that.
