So to define the Catholic church as most Roman Catholics understand it - we must include that definition.
If you were to send me to the 2nd century, I could possible say that I was in communion with the Bishop of Rome. But I canāt say that in this century, even with this good pope. Itās a question of the powers of the office.
My premise if that most people in the 2nd century, if transported into the future, would have all sorts of questions about the Papacy and some of them would say that the modern office of the Pope is something they donāt recognize.
