Has anyone seen this website? Any thoughts on it? Any help to dispute it?

My Born Again cousin sent this to me and thinks if I read others who have convereted awaty from the Church that I will also.

She believes as do most of that side of my family, that I am not Christian and I am going to hell. They believe the Pope is the Anti-Christ.

Help me?

Pax et Bonum,
Joseph

I don’t see any value in trying to refute an entire website–unless you have lots more time on your hands than most of us.

My advice is to ask your cousin what her specific objections are and discuss those with her. If she refuses, you’re talking to wood anyway. We’ll ne glad to help you with any sincere questions she has.

To me, reading sites like that is basically opening the door to Satan. It only causes anger because the site is filled with hatred.

If you are solid in your Catholic faith, you should lovingly take each accusation on that site and set your cousin straight on the TRUTH that is taught in the Catholic Church. You should also buy her a Catechism and tell her to read for herself rather than believing in this heretical bunk that will ultimately send HER to hell!

Ignor it. There are alot of sites that practice catholic bashing.

Tell your relatives you are a Christian, and you are secure in your relationship with God, and you find their comments insulting. They can practice their faith the way they want, and you can practice they way you want. Talking religion and politics between family and friends usually leads to problems. You might want to advise them of that.

Right from their introduction page they start with:

Protestant Church cites the Bible alone as the source of doctrinal knowledge. The Catholic church, on the other hand, cites the Bible and Tradition.

They can not cite a reference from the bible that says the bible alone should be the sole source of doctrine. On the other hand the bible specifically tells us to keep to all Scripture and Tradition.

2 Thess 2:15
Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours.

You could just send a link to the Catholic Answers web site back and explain that every objection is answered reasonably.

I’ve seen that site before.

What is saddest for me are the testimonies of ex-catholic priests.

It is so sad how someone can go through years of seminary, serve as a priest and still misunderstand the faith so badly.

It is even sadder that while they served as priests, their congregations were led by, and received homilies from, such men as these with little understanding of the essentials of the faith.

God must weep greatly.

There’s a thread at the moment in which it is claimed that protestants often over emphasize Paul at the expense of Jesus. Carm has a page on the Gospel for Catholics. It references Paul 17 times. It references the Gospels 7 times including repetitions. If my counting is correct. So maybe the claim in that thread is correct.

At the bottom of that page I am welcomed into the body of Christ. That’s nice. I said a “sinner’s prayer” in 1990. Or am I welcomed? Perhaps not because I’d have to trust in Jesus alone to be welcomed. I quite like trusting the other two persons of the Trinity as well.

I thought it odd they would on some ignore what Catholics say about the verses they use. such as the Timothy verse he uses to prove sola scriptora. Not very acadimicly honest (never liked it when people would assume that the other side is stupid and has nothing to say about what their saying). I didn’t get that far into it because of that so all I can say is ignore it.

Edit: Most definatly talk to your cusin about 'es problems with the faith and propose that 'ay read something about the faith from one of our own (kinda “out of the hoarses mouth” so to say). Karls good (though I find that he is a bit bitter, understandable so at times), Bishop Fulton J. Sheen (“Your life is Worth Living: A christian philosphy of life” is a great start, not in depth but still a great intro.), of what I have read Scott Hahn is good (“Hail Holy Queen” is a great study on Mary, though at the end Scott seems to get a bit tired and looses depth on issues but, still). And of course this website is a great sourse as well as this Forum. Tell 'em to visit this forums some time and ask some questions (I mean it free and all so it won’t coast 'em anything so why not hear what the other side has to say about the “Whole Picture”). Anyway I have rambled on long enough. I would just like to leave you with this. PRAY!!!. Good luck. and God bless.

when anyone form the basis for their entire website bashing someone else’s belief. it just shows me they really have nothing of their own to say, they base their beliefs against someone else because they have nothing to offer.
This site and his ministry wouldn’t exist if the Catholic Church didn’t.

some people need to push down on the shoulders of others to try to raise themselves higher.

the best thing to do for people like these is ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten them and have a little talk with their Guardian Angel.

Here is what I did when I was first considering following Christ - not my Protestant whims and fancey.

Go to the site and read each statement. Research it and then decide if it is true or false. Use Protestant. Catholic and neutral sources for each point.

Here is what you will learn from doing this:
  1. You will learn what the Protestant lies are.
  2. You will learn what the truth is.
  3. You will learn how the Protestant thinks.
  4. You will quickly learn how Protestants invent their facts and then how they refer to each other as ‘authintic’ sources’.
  5. You will learn how much Satan hates the visible body of Christ on earth, His Catholic Church.
  6. You will learn where and how to find true and factual sources of information.
  7. You will learn where all the Great Catholic sites are.
  8. You will become more eager to support Christ against all those Protestant lies.
  9. You will become a more devout Christian (i.e. Catholic)
  10. You will learn the Protestant arguement, its faults and how to tell them the truth and lead them closer to Christ and His Catholic body.
  11. You will be able to witness your Faith to your ‘Born Again’ cousins faith. He will see that in your light, his light only casts a shadow.
Here are some other sites that when I was Protestant made me Catholic:

(Removed as per CAF policy not to promote board swarms)

(mtc.org seems to be gone? It was the best lie of ALL the Protestant lies I read. This site was the hardest to prove wrong and find the truth.)

These sites are full of lies. I used to beleive them, that is, till I looked for the source and facts behind them. When I researched the statements the Holy Spirit led me to Rome. The truth is the truth no matter how often they rewrite history, bend the truth, misslead, blurr facts and downright invent lies. It was so dipsicable at what the Protestants did I felt like I was dirty and needed a bath. Of course there is no bath that will clean your soul of the filth at those sites except, you guessed it, Jesus. His blood and Baptism by the Holy Spirit. The Catholic Church is here by Jesus and the Holy Spirit led me Home to Rome. Now I am a

BORN AGAIN CATHOLIC!

This thread has been edited due to the inclusion of a request/suggestion for other forum readers/members to visit someone else’s website for the purposes of Apologetics.

In an effort to illuminate and explain the Catholic faith, CA makes every effort to provide our participants with a pleasant and informative place on the internet where Catholics and non-Catholics may gather.

It is our hope that respectful dialogue and discussion will lead to better faith understandings. And so in charity, we ask that our forums not be used for encouraging mass visits to other websites. In the past these kinds of efforts, although perhaps well intentioned, leave participants at other websites with negative impressions.

Your cooperation in helping promote these aims of faith exposition, hope for fruitful discussion and charity in implementation are sincerely appreciated.

Sincerely,
Michael Francis

It wasn’t just you Sir Knight, but it happens a lot and we had to have a policy. 🙂

Consider how we would feel here if they chose to do that to CAF.

Luke 6:31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

I found it during a Google on Mormanism and then found read the what they had for Catholics. I have to say he has everything wrong which Matt Slick, the author claims to have studied all these religions. It makes me think how wrong he got the Catholic portion that he has the other religions right at all. It is also strange how he doesn’t focus on the different denominations because each one had something different.

I check the forums and what has helped me was the Catholics who responded to questions and it helped me to learn the faith more and what prostestants aurguments and how to refute them.

The people who post the anti-Catholic questions really do not want to know the faith. They are more interested in a fight with the poster than the answer then it goes round and round then it more “who has the best comeback” As I have seen the same questions answered over and over by knowledgeble Catholics.

I guess one thing I realize if Catholic Church wasn’t important and wasn’t the truth Church then it wouldn’t matter to these posters, but they constantly have the Church on there mind so I guess that it something.
